hi guys,

its been like 2 week plus since i upgraded to ICS on my XS and i can feel that its not as quick as it used to be, even laggy sometimes.
Eg, when i end a call and put the phone away from my face. It used to show the screen almost immediately and i can press to end the call. Now it takes almost 2 sec for the screen to appear; the other party would have already ended the call.

Then there is the apps issue. Some of the apps like Endomondo pro and astrid seems not really compatible. I get prompts that astrid is not working well and closing.

Lastly, the three "buttons" at the bottom seem to have lost their sensitivity. It now takes several attempts to get it right.

does anyone face the same issues as me?

its known to be those preloaded ICS works better over those handset say it able to update later on
i do encounter some issue whne i update my arc s to ics
nd some appls dont work as good
did u try to update to all latest appls version see if it helps

as i recall not 100% all appls is ICS tested
so onlt way for us its not update to the latest appls version for those appls u used to use

did u do a clean update?
mybe can u try to clean out and do a clean update see if its helps
i did mine arc s and it helps abit

that time you driving the call cut off is the telco or the phone issue?

Can be both but then I hardly had any dropped calls on my 4S

me can on s3
but actually is depend on the housing lift some is oldsch solid door
means hard to get signal even ug ot the best phone
some is more expose so can get signal lor

Like some can get a signal in e train when underground and some can't

Let me try updating the problematic apps and observe.

For the clean update, how does one do it? How to clean out and update again?
My phone is not rooted though.

Some apps have not been updated by their developers to be fully compatible with ICS.

You can do a clean install but connecting your phone to PC Companion and selecting the update option. You will be informed that you have the latest version but there should be a Repair option. Just go through the Repair flow. Please note that all your user data will be wiped, so backup first.

Thanks! I do backup then will try the method as you suggest. Hope the phone will be "normal" after this.

No idea too, read it on some forum.

Anyway, the differences between ION and S is only screen size, battery capacity and Micro SD slot. Correct me if I'm wrong.

u didn't take into consideration its screen is larger

Add to the fact that ion is built with metal phone exterior.

Hi, would like to ask if there are shops out there providing service to replace housing for this phone. I dropped the phone today and the side bar cracked (near the led light).

I saw full housing replacements selling on ebay but not brave enough to diy myself... Also my xperia s is the 2nd batch, so I can't really go to the service center and say got yellow tint at this point in time also.

Does anyone know of shops or individuals who could replace the housing? Thank you very much!

New version always got bugs. But there will be new updates to solve the bugs as well. Maybe you can wait for that.

In my view, whether it is preloaded or upgraded to ICS, it doesn't matter. By your logic, an Xperia S bought yesterday and preloaded with ICS has less bugs than an Xperia S that was bought months ago and upgraded to exactly the same ICS firmware. It just doesn't make sense to me, since bugs are tied to particular firmwares.

Yes me too, a bit laggy + bottom buttons not responsive. I upgraded right after I got the phone, clean install, so I don't know if GB is better.
