Sony phones are nice, some have this classic timeless design where some users like to own them for more than a year. It cant be helped to be sold off for being faulty or damaged.

They should not start selling sl before xs users get their phones fixed. The spare/new parts should go to xs users first.
their after sales is epic. first time hear people wait months for the parts until st phased it out and it's still not here yet

For me, the after-sales service from Sony has been outstanding so far. I had problems with the screen of my old Sony w960i and each time, it took less than 3 days for repair. I feel that the Xperia S screen replacement issue is an exception, since the problem was so widespread across the world and Japan and Thailand had been hit by floods, leading to delayed replacement parts.

I wonder if it's possible to switch the illumination bar lights with the Xperia U and get the same colour changing effects?

I'm assuming if the OS is the same and the LED hardware is the same it would just take some technical know-how to swap the lights and voila! Xperia S with changing illumination bar colours! :s12:

XS is using a single colour (white) LED, you can hard modify the LED with other colours, or even multi-colour LED, but the software doesn't support changing colour.

The main selling point of xu is the multi-color LED in the iconic bar, same goes for white magic technology for xp.

Users of xs are just stuck with a ironic bigger screen. :D

Made of iron? Haha!
Maybe he means that while it is a big screen, the phone doesn't have any other obvious special features to make it stand out.

If Xperia SL has colour changing lights I'd go for that lol.

Not for me. One day I woke up and my Xperia S has a bunch of artifacts on screen. I brought it to the Service Center in Junction 8 and was told that I had to wait 1 month to get it fixed. The service lady gave me a ****ty phone and expected me to use that for 1 months. I complained to Sony and finally got the phone fixed next day.
I was expecting their service to be better than that :(...

Like I said, the Xperia S screen issues are an exception, in my view. Most probably, they gave someone else's screen to you and that person had to wait longer.

That said, perhaps Sony has changed its repair vendor since the last time that I repaired my w960i and service levels aren't as before.

Sony Xperia service center - slow and irresponsible

I always believe in Sony product, from Bravia Television, Playstation 1, 2 and 3, and recently Xperia S.

I have 2 Sony Xperia S, one for me and one for my girlfriend. Recently just because of the yellow tint issue, we went to Sony Xperia service center for the first time in May 2012. We waited total 4 weeks in role to get it resolved the yellow tint issue.

On 18 August 2012, I have to go to the service center again due recently my girlfriend Xperia S unable to boot. I send it out for check what is the issue, and they ask me to wait until they inform me via phone or by checking the status on their website.

I keep checking and calling for status but they said their engineer is still working on it. After 10 days of waiting, I called and complain and wanted to talk to their manager. The manager finally gets back to me the next day and said that because the phone internal part got water stain and the motherboard need to replace. The manager gives us choices of whether we take back the phone and service it ourselves or we have to pay approximately SGD 500 for the motherboard replacement. We do not know about that issue and there is no indication regarding to the phone got wet before. We asked he to escalate to higher level but the manager seem do not want to help us escalate and try to push back all responsibility to user where blame my girlfriend might bring the phone to bathroom or say my girlfriend have a sweaty hand that might cause the issue. We insist then he has no choice but to escalate for us. The manager also mention will follow up and he will call us after 3 business day.

3 business days has passed but still not update from the service center and today is 5 of Sept 2012. Sony Xperia Service Center seem do not really care the important of a phone to a consumer nowadays, their processing time is really slow and user seem to wait for nothing but to keep checking the status by calling the service center.

I understood that the service center is just following the procedure from Sony, but if Sony does want to have good service in after sales, I suggest Sony better stay away from making smart phones and concentrate on product they Sony good on (Bravia display, playstation and etc). I am not sure whether the Lemon Law could help us with it since we own the product less than 6 months and now my girlfriend is paying a smart phone package for a non smart phone (old 5 years old phone).

Location:- Sony Xperia Service Center Location at Bishan Junction 8
The Manager: - Mr. Hakim

guys, who here have the same problem as me?

Updated to ICS last Saturday, after the update when i receive calls or call people i must turn on loud speaker if not i cannot hear anything. Plus my battery life drain like no tomorrow all of a sudden.

anyone can help me? thanks!

I had the same problem yesterday, suddenly the earpiece had no sound, while the loudspeaker and plugging in a headset still worked. I noticed the battery draining more than usual too. I updated to ICS when it first came out for XS. Flashed to GB, doesn't work; back to ICS, still doesn't work. I was going to head down to service centre today but the problem disappeared when I woke up this morning. Weird. Don't know whether is hardware or software issue :s11: Maybe it's scared of going to service centre :s13:

Yeah, its alive! I believe ICS is buggy in one or some ways for all android phones.

My whatsapp sometimes does not show notification, till I load the app.

@titanyong
You can always go to CASE, even when lemon law does not apply for you.
Sounds like the manager is not helpful at all, you should bring your case to the relevant authorities.

I got tat whatsapp prob too! Anyway, relevant authority is tat service centre manager I think... Previous time when I had lots of prob with my phone... I called service centre, they can't solve my prob, I ask for alternative number and I called the Xperia helpline... Den after tat cannot resolve also, so I called Sony number den they told me Sony mobile is not really under them den in the end he emailed the manager and I am back to the service centre attending to me...
