I just got my YSL Y EDP decant today and I'm a little surprised at how it smells. I was expecting something on the bluer side (since comparisons were made to Dylan Blue, etc) but it smells closer to a date night fragrance because of the sweetness of what smells like pineapple overpowering everything.

Anyway, I went to check out ADG and its flankers again and the Profumo is really growing on me. I love the incense note.

Edit: I tried out the YSL Y again and I think it smells better now. It has the blue vibe with the sweetness slightly covering it up. Definitely not as overpowering as before. Once the top notes dissipate, it gives way to a floral and woody scent which is very masculine and lovely.

really like the sweetness because its not the cloying type of sweetness, suitable for our weather for outdoor and indoor wear

What do you guys think of John Varvatos Artisan Pure? It smells super fresh and clean to me. This is the only fragrance so far that I feel smells great when it lingers around after a shower.

It reminds me of Snake Brand Prickly Heat Powder. On one hand it smells great, especially in this weather, but I got a feeling using it would make it seem like I drowned myself in the powder. 😅

Sephora now featured Mont Blanc Explorer smells good. A little similar to the scent of Hermes perfume. Light spicy

Just tried it. Reminds me of creed aventus. Quite well priced too. EDP 100ml at retail price of $135.

Now I'm interested in checking Explorer out! Heard so much about Aventus but never got a chance to see what it's about.

At risk of sounding like a hipster, other than Dior Sauvage, are there any other DNAs that are very popular in Singapore?

I am quite a noob. Not too sure how to describe the different dna. But explorer is like brighter smelling than sauvage.

Other popular dna includes bleu de chanel. From chanel, i also like egoiste platinum. I also like the armani aqua de gio profomo (black bottle). For something different, i also like the hermes terre de hermes fraiche or something like that. The one with the white collar, not the brown collar.

Happy trying/shopping.

I believe you are referring to notes or accords in the scent, right? :)

For example, ambroxan features heavily in Dior’s Sauvage.

Google “ambroxan” and you’ll find it in Prada’s Luna Rossa & Luna Rossa Carbon, and in Versace’s Eros.
