Don't worry, just be a little bit thick skin haha.
I built a relationship with the salespeople at my favourite shops. They know I go in to test frags and I joke with them and shoot the ****. I also know that some of their stuff is the cheapest bar none (including online) and I have bought many a frag from them.
However, this does not obligate me to buy a frag from them if I know I can get it significantly cheaper elsewhere.

If there are frags that are not available locally then the only way to get a sample is to buy one. So far I have used Perfume Samples, Perfume Decants, Indie Perfumes, Scents and Vintage Perfumes with quite good results. Hope this helps.

I see I see. Thanks man! Do you ship it directly into Singapore? Cause I heard Singapore has some regulations about shipping in perfumes... :s11:

Cheap but good frags:

yRMZAfE.jpg

L-R: Montblanc Individuel, Christian Audigier's Ed Hardy Love and Luck, Rochas Man (nice upside down, phallic symbol bottle)

Have you tried Bond No.9 New Haarlerm before? Read online that Rochas Man and new haarlem are very similar.

Shipped directly to my address in Singapore. No problems. Full bottles, 3 at a time, multiple samples at a time all no problem.

Haven't tried New Haarlem yet. I usually go with the cheaper options first if 2 frags are similar unless there's enough of differentiation to warrant the premium.
Eg.
Bond No.9 New Haarlem vs Rochas Man
Creed Original Santal vs Montblanc Individuel
Creed Millesime Imperial vs Sean John Unforgivable/Ed Hardy Love and Luck
Creed Green Irish Tweed vs Davidoff Cool Water (in this instance, I went with GIT as it smelt waaaaaay better than Cool Water)

Thanks. Does Sephora have them?

No. Escentials has a few. They are at Paragon and Tangs Orchard perfume section. But the full range is available for you to test at Penhaligon's ION Orchard. If you don't want them to talk your ears off then say you are familiar with Pen's when they ask you. You may find it interesting and informative but I personally find it annoying.

To me, New Haarlem has much more coffee, Rochas Man is more of lavender.
Ava Luxe Cafe Noir is the best if u are looking for a coffee scent!

Any reviews on mont blanc legend?

I really like that one, I have used a 50ml bottle and thinking about getting another one. There is something special about it, warm but very masculine smell.

Penhaligon's are great for those who like heavy scents, I can't find anything particular for myself though. If you guys like heavy notes then Emir G. Nejman, not cheap though :)

I have recently come across Gucci Guilty and despite Gucci scents were never "my thing", I really like that one.

On a side note, has anyones used perfumestore.sg or sg.ozcosmetics.com and can confirm their reliability and products authenticity?

Not all Penhaligon's frags are strong. Got many that are quite light.

Perfumestore.sg is not the best place to buy many common frags. They are better than department stores but if you bother to do some legwork and look around, you can save alot of money. However, if you just want to buy 1 or 2 and get it delivered, they are pretty good.

Anybody tried LIDGE? Quite highly regarded in frag community but not avail in Sg.
I see 2 BMs selling in HWZ, so must not be to their liking?

I actually find Penhaligon's range of perfumes to be rather light with low to average sillage. Namely: Opus 1870, Blenheim Bouquet, Endymion, Artemisia.

Never used perfumestore.sg, can get better prices elsewhere :)

Thought I would like it but I tried, disliked and sold away my decants, haha. IMO LIDG smells better.

Opus is one of the lightest indeed.
Elsewhere means where?

Hello gurus, some shops such as British Essential perfumes are close to half the price of those selling in departmental stores. Are there any difference? Kind of sceptical about their quality.
