thepotterhouse is selling an 80% efficiency (not too sure if it's 80plus certified, shouldnt be) strider PSU 500W for $109.

enhance PSUs are back at normal price. got one 460W GH version for myself.

andyson 500W PSU is not 80plus certified. so didnt get it in the end.

all i can feel is you are picking on Acbel...refusing to give them any credit that their power can output their stated wattage.

it is continuous power that is already been demonstrated but yet you keep claiming that they are using peak wattage.

as for the regulation issue, let me remind you that they did not fail any test. as per Acbel's explaination, they wanted to pass the test with better results.

to pass with 50% or 90% could mean something to them.

that results is meant for their OEM clients, which is much bigger business to them.
none of the manufacturers provide these results to the public, a pass is a pass which is sufficient for most.

Acbel is only claiming that their power can output 50-60w more than what it is rated, which they have already demonstrated.

Unless you can proves otherwise, please refrain from misleading the public that they are using peak wattages.

cheers

I'm not picking on Acbel, they make good power supplies. I never said they didn't.
In fact they OEM for DELL!

But I'm just curious why its 450w on actual specs and 510w on the box..

It seems like peak power to me and with consumers looking for so called "true power" PSUs nowadays, I think it'll be better for you to explain the discrepancy.

So my main questions are:

1) "Pass tests with better results" - so does that mean if the psu ran out of the 450w spec, its performance of it will be out of the "better results" spectrum?

2) I don't see the PSU having any "better" accolades other than pretty standard looking ones. Is there something that I missed out? If not, the 450w spec is simply in line with industrial specs?

3) I'd like to recommend the E2 series to end users, but before that,I'd just like to have my questions answered by you or by some form of independent tests. I recommend Enhance and Andyson because both platforms have been proven to be good/above average by www.jonnyguru.com (with proper test results of rails, temps and ripple etc.)

Its mainly the newer series of PSUs from Acbel that I'm curious about.
I'm looking at the 80PLUS certification of this
http://www.80plus.org/manu/psu/documents/ACBEL_PC7030_800W_Report.pdf

and its highlight that the 800w has an "ACTUAL max rated watts: 750w"

oops.. ER, did you delete away the previous post? If you think its inappropriate for me and Bluegrass to discuss about Acbel PSUs here, let me know. I'll post my questions in their subforum.
