About 5-8% because I was testing and trying out stuff...
Normally about 6.5hr with 20% left after ~40 hours standby..
i know that the way IOS handles backend processes and multi tasking is different from android. but i actually prefer that instead as it helps save quite a bit of battery life.
For me, battery life MM and lollipop is the same. dont really find much of a difference to justify whether doze is useful or not. Android N is interesting, off screen = doze starts running. But well, i think its going to take 1 year for samsung to release android N to the note 5. by then maybe note 7 already out liao
Rather than say Samsung is better, i think should be other OEMs not putting up a fight except LG and HTC.
I know Huawei is coming up but i think they are still a notch behind event HTC and LG. I dun even wanna mention ASUS after the terrible Nexus 7 2012 i got from there and no good experience with their stuff (motherboard and GPU is a different story).
I actually like the Mate 8.. But that phone is gigantic even compared to my N6p which I've trouble putting into my jeans.. LOL..
I read that they are coming up with edge screen phones. Hopefully with a smaller size phone with better battery life than Samsung, ditch their crappy EMUI with stock android feel.. Then we are talking.
I'm using TW but I tweak here and there, always 4G and I've my pebble watch sync using BT also..
1) Dark/black themes and wallpaper
2) Automated location switch BT, Wifi on & off
3) Automated Off BT and Wifi after 1am, on them back at 7am
4) Automated profile like sound, vibrate switching depending on location
4) Disable a bunch of useless services and packages
5) Greenify
6) Opera mini beta
If I have root, it will be even better but cant root until warranty runs out
- Automate Turn off data when Wifi is connected, on data when wifi is disconnected
- Automate Turn location mode to battery saving unless MAP is running
- Automate Airplane mode from 1am to 7am
Other stuff like
- Auto landscape, portrait rotate depending on apps running
- Auto speakphone if my ears are not near phone
- Shake phone to on/off flashlight
How's your greenify settings like ah. I got it but dunno is it the settings, it's like pretty useless to me lol.

how to automate wifi/bluetooth off ah?
Just add apps that you want it to hibernate when you are not running.. pretty standard.. Skip apps like whatsapp, viber or what not your chat apps.
Also, look out for apps that will auto re-run itself after a while even when you didnt run it specifically, apps running in the background drawing data and cpu cycles..
Everything looks like its not doing anything or useless but when you add up all those small little little things, you get amazing benefit... Dont know how else to describe it.. LOL...
Too bad we cant auto hibernate using Greenify unless rooted so its only useful if you remember to run it every once in a while..

You can try tasker, Automagic or Macrodroid
I've used all three but I'd suggest either tasker or automagic. Tasker has a high learning curve, very powerful with cell towers location trigger (that save battery compared to network/data base location trigger which is less accurate also), automagic is using flow chart which will be a lot easier to understand. Its location trigger is using network base so not as battery friendly but works also. The only problem I've with automagic is it generates a lot of logs which is good for debugging but the chatty logs also uses memory and resources. The workaround is to do a maintenance flow to clear the logs every few hours.. Automagic will be draining a little more battery compared to tasker but it is not that significant I'd say.
I've set them up to check if I'm at home or work, then turn on Wifi.. if outside of these 2 area, turn off wifi.
How is it different from Samsung's battery optimization manager??![]()
hmmm does that mean i have to on my location always? can i dont use location?
my note 5 is on 1d 15 hours on battery, with 2h 52mins of SOT. now batt at 13%
Similar concept I think but samsung one activate every 3 days.
But i manually optimized my apps so basically i won't need Greenify then but my battery life still isn't that great so either i need to reset or the apps i run simply drains too much battery haha. I do keep location on with full scanning though.
For automagic, yes but for Tasker, you can use cell tower trigger that bypass the location i think..
I always have my location ON but set on battery saving mode (network/data only) because I use stuff like google services that need location. Only turn to High ACC when running google maps
I think best SOT I had on my note 5 was about 5hrs.. I didnt keep it for long after trying it out and got the N6P afterwards.. On my rooted 6P, I got about 5.5 to 6hrs SOT with 1.5 day standby which was slightly better than my Note 5
Use dark/black based theme, turn down your screen brightness. Install GSam battery monitor and see which apps are using most of your battery.. Then you can decide what to do next
