I would urge you to consider wearing them instead of keeping them DS, unless your intention is to re-sell them (again, nothing wrong, more than 50% of my kicks are from re-sellers).

I used to keep some kicks DS, but after a few years, the shoe will just crumbles as the glue dried up and the whole shoe just fall apart. It will come to a point whereby the shoe becomes nothing more than just a "display" item. Cool if thats what you want, but my personal thoughts is that its every shoe designer's dream that he/she sees people wearing their designs on their feet and love wearing them, be it for the function/comfort or for its looks.

Yea some is for sale but many are for collection as well.
As for the ds issue, some ppl prefer to wear them & sell off as PADS or VNDS.I been in this game for quite some time, and for the sneakers produced in recent years can be quite lasting long,so long shoe tree is used or un stuff it with the original papers to keep the shape on.As for the glue, they are using better glues now which also last quite long, also if a brand new shoe fall out of the glue being dried,it is still easy to repair the glue part than a used pair, cos when u wear it,u stretched the shoe already etc.....hehe..
Well, was actually choosing which pair to start wearing .......too many pairs also headaches sometimes....hehe...

I got so many pairs of shoes. Most are new. And recently went to see, most are splitting already. The sole.

How to prevent this huh. Besides wearing them

Sad to say no way to prevent (at least that I know of), mainly due to the weather that we are subjected to over here. I have heard of people shrink wrapping the shoes, but even then over years one can only re-sell them as a "wear-at-your-own-risk" collectable item. Actions such as shrink-wrapping does not stop the shoe from falling apart when you wear them years later, it just holds up the shoe in the meantime and help slows down issues like discoloring and such.

Even if wearing, you need to wear on a "regular" basis, which I personally put it as about a day (not just 1 or 2 hours) every 3-6 months at least.

On the other hand, I have personally seen Shukey at Far East Plaza repair a falling apart Air Jordan V Olive and doing a pretty good job too. If you know kicks you will know that shoe has been around for quite a while, and I can happily see that that particular pair was pretty beat up as well, so have to say I was impressed with the repair work done.

You can give them a try, they will let you know if its "repair-able" or not, and the cost as well before you decide to do so.

I have seen professional sneakers repair shops in Japan, and I really hope that we get such high standard service in our shores in time to come.

Hey...this is a good one...
Start wearing already lah hehe...;)

Hey bro, since you already have network for getting kicks overseas, take a consideration if you want to expand to other brands also. If you do I may end up be one of your regular client, ha!

p.s. unfortunately not into Asics or NB, as I do not know how to appreciate their comfort and design, probably due to myself not a runner. Except for the latest Volcano release.....thats interesting enuff to be a different story.....ha

Ya to repair/refurbish a wear out sneaker is not easy,I also have seen some work put in at the nyc scene, many sneakers even though are worn but so long u never abuse them, can stlll be repair/refurbish.Only thing is we are limited on this job scope locally, hard to find a relatively good repair workshop for sneakers.....

Damn man....envy envy on your overseas network....

mostly I get my kicks when I travel to Japan and Taiwan, if not then Ebay. Ebay is a good hunting ground, just need to do a lot of homework.

Appreciate the offer, will keep in mind. Currently already way overshot my sneaker budget for this year (as like every other previous years....). But if you do hear of a DS Air Jordan V Raging Bull with still icy soles in size US 8.5 ......well........

If not LE, then you need to go online. Sad to say our sneakers culture here is still lacking, basically monopolised by you-know-who to sell you what they can get, not what is truly "limited". If you are getting the standard releases, quite easy to find online, be it from US or Japan. Markups are unavoidable, unless you consider spending 4 digit figures at some places to feel "special" and then still need to camp out for releases.

Really limited stuffs, sad to say we will not get here on retail, so only way is Ebay.

Other than that, overseas if you can, or if you have network.

cheers and good hunting.....

precisely... even till now I am still hunting for AJ 4 Toro Bravo and still unable to find it... given the amount of fakes now in the market and people are selling fakes at original prices, really risk taking...

Agree. In fact, I only go Ltd Edt to see whay they sell, then make sure I DONT get what they sell....also a lot of reading up online on what is released and the story behind it. Dun really consider myself a sneakerhead, just fortunate enuff to have some spare cash to indulge myself on some kicks that I love and I relate to.

Connections overseas is not something I have, so a lot of homework before buying on ebay, and a few trusted online stores from Japan that I know and I try to get directly where I am there.

Markup is something I have come to accept, as long as it is reasonable to me. To be a sneaker lover here, basically reseller is your only friend, but to me its a business just like any other.

If buying through Ebay you need to do a lot of homework, like checking up on the reseller, asking for picts n receipts, etc. Apply some common sense; if its too good a deal, its probably too good to be true also.

Alternatively, try some online stores, those with good reputation. It will cost you a bit more than the lowest offer on Ebay, but then again you are buying in good faith.

But if u were to go purchase from local so called LE retail,i would strongly suggest leftfoot, their staffs is more friendly & helpful...LE is just a very haolian retailer only...
Last week i paid for the oshman x nb 1600,but the order was cancel this week lol, make a refund to me but not very happy about it,anyway not really hype about the oshman but the detailing is very tip top....
Also if were to get from oversea,a markup is a must face, only thing is high or low mark up ^_^
As for ebay, yea u need some exp to know which seller is 100% legit, always read their ratings,as well as to pm them for direct paypal sale which can gives u more discount...many of them have direct connection with their LE retail,so after a few times of smooth purchase, they might pm u when a release is near, price of course will be much lower than in ebay...more savings lol...

No offense intended to anyone, but I try not to buy sneakers locally at all. Personal preference to wear something no one else is wearing, same goes for clothing.....

No such luck on getting network with Ebay reseller. Usually go with a few Jap online stores, reputation is good, helps that I go to their phyiscal stores when I can as well......
