Anyone any experience or comments on office progressive lens vs standard progressive lens? Recently came across this Zeiss office progressive lens. Thinking of making a pair for office wear ( computer and near reading ). Is office progressive lens same price as the standard progressive lens or cheaper? Thanks in advance.
Anyone can advise if it's worth it to go for high index lenses if my degrees are at about 200+ each eye? My current lenses is 4mm thick at the edges and I'm not sure how much thinner high index lenses can be for my degree. I was quoted $100 by the neighborhood optics shop for some no brand plastic lenses at 1.6 index with basic coating (should be just UV protection, etc). So my question is are there any higher index lenses at $100 and would they make a big difference in the edge thickness? What is the thinnest I can go for 200+ degrees each eye? Thanks.
Good evening, if you are planning to use office lens just for intermediate and reading it shouldn't be a problem but take note you cnt use it for far unless you choose the longer distance design. Office lens for zeiss and afew other Brand’s have usually 3 design. 4m 2m and 1metre distancewise. Normal progressive can also be made into a makeshift office lens just have to change the usual "top segment" of the progressive into intermediate power and lower as per normal your reading power. Take note office lens reading area is wider than normal progressive lenses(basic ones). But if cost is an issue can cosider normal progressive(convert into office lens) or else maybe the new essilor digitime lenses.
Feel free to ask if you still have more queries!
Hi Gangsterkia, thank you for your reply.
I had also watched some Youtube on Office Progressive Lens. It seems that this is what I will need for my office wear.
I had been wearing normal progressive lens for 10 over years.
I am 54 this year and had made a few pair of progressive glasses over the years...they are not cheap.
All this while, I had been 'suffering' in the sense that I had to tilt my head up to look at my pc. Very very tiring....
My current progressive lens for near reading is also not optimised.
I found that I am actually more comfortable and see better when I remove my progressive glasses for near reading.
Unfortunately, I believe the branded Office Progressive Lens will not be cheap. If I were to go with Zeiss, I may choose Zeiss Officelens Book wear (optimised up to 100cm). I will also have a look at Essilor Varilux Digitime.
In your opinion, do you think if I were to get a normal progressive lens and convert it (optimise) to office wear prescription, will this be equal to the same Office Progressive lens as what the big brands are offering? Thanks.

Afternoon everybody,
Am just wondering the price range for Oliver Peoples frame minus the lens? Do you go to the authorized retailers to get them or other stores do carry them?
Thank you for the assistance.

the toa payoh ic berlin shop has terrible service, i would stay away. sin chew is normal. Most optical shops, especially the ones that have been around a long time, are all about the same. They can offer you the same level of service. What's a good shop to go to design like the ic berlin?
Near Toapayoh or Sengkang?
So far I only read of sin chew and kwongshin with raving reviews.
my 2 cents after using zeiss lens for a year+. Coating still wears off, doesn't seem any more durable than other brand of lens. When new, zeiss clarity is extremely good, better than other lens. But their coating doesn't last long. Not worth the premium, IMO. Making new pair of spectacles soon and i won't pay premium for zeiss anymore

Most recommendations you'll find here are not because the shop is truly that much better than the rest, but rather, the people have been going to the same shops for a long time. If you stick to the tried-and-tested shops, hard to go wrong.
