No, even progressive lenses do not have 2 focal zones. Generally anti fatigue lenses have their power at the bottom gradually reduced to allow for better comfort when looking at distance and then at near. E.g. top portion is -2.00D, middle of the lens is -1.50 and the bottom is -1.25. Something along the line, it’s not 2 fixed focal zone like a bifocal.
The anti fatigue helps to reduce your eye strain by reducing the power slightly at the bottom.
But if you don’t have headaches or eye strain then you can stick with single vision.

I do feel the need to get Zeiss smartlife single vision unless it’s for progressive.(just my personal opinion).
Thanks for your advice previously. I went down to Paris Miki and made a pair of digital lens.
Hope it's good.

Ah, if you have not started wearing progressives, I would suggest you start of with anti fatigue lenses first, so you will be able to look at your dashboard clearer and also your GPS if needed.

example are Hoya sync 3, Essilor eyezen lenses, Zeiss digital lenses and energize me.

do you have any preferred location in mind? Or else I will tell you my recommended choices.

Progressive lenses are lenses that allows you to view distance vision, intermediate(computer distance) and near(arms length distance). When we have laohua(presbyopia), our near and intermediate vision will start getting blurrier thus for individuals who want to still be able to see far, near and intermediate, they use progressive lenses.

Yes for sure. No matter what, most shops are willing to take your business!
However take note, if you are planning to use your own frame to fit a pair of lenses in, it is at your own risk if the frame gets damaged in the process of fitting in the lens.
Any preferred location in Singapore? Or you don’t mind travelling further?

Hey,
I am going to assume that you need recommendation for lenses, frames selection and shop.
Lenses wise,Based on your age you can opt for 2 choices, antifatigue lenses as you face long hours on computer or normal single vision lenses with blue light filter.
Frame selection goes along with shop, do you have a preferred location? Or you don’t mind travelling further from your home/office?

Depending on your frame choice and lens type, I would suggest minimally 1.60 index lens, ideally 1.67 index.
If that’s the case, I would suggest
eyewear optics at Thomson Plaza
Jamco at katong shopping Center
Kj optometrist at plaza sing
Do call and make an appt before dropping by, if you need, I can recommend you to look for the practitioner at the practices.

Digital lenses are lenses that work similarly to antifatigue lenses. Digital lenses are from Zeiss.
If the practice is situated close to you and you are comfortable with the practitioner, then do support the place.

Hi there, need to get a new pair of glasses with frame. Current ones are atleast 2 years old. Degrees are about 800plus for both sides, with astig in the high 200s or 300s. Index is 1.67 (I think) with the blue light filter. Pretty sure my eyesight has worsened since the last I checked.

Would appreciate recommendations on shops (preferably east or at most central area); types of lenses as well as suggested frame types. Some input on Materials of the lenses and frame would be great too!

Hitting 30 years, drive/ride, work consists of both manual as well as computer tasks. Thank you.

Hi gangsterkia,
I am reaching my 30s and have no good habits on taking care of eyes and specs, will like to have your expertise/recommendation(s) preferably in the West and Central area.
My old prescription is at around -7.25 ~ -8.25 SPH with a CYL of more than -2.00, not so sure about my axis. Most of the time, I am in front of my monitor(s).

Thank you :)

Hey,
With a prescription range like that, I would recommend minimally a 1.67 lens and optimally a 1.74 index lens. If you are infront of the computer for long hours, I suggest using an antifatigue lens with a Low addition e.g. Hoya sync 3, Essilor eyezen or Zeiss energizeme/digital lens.
Central you can consider consider making an appt and going down to
eyewear optics@thomson plaza
Kj optometrist@plaza sing

Hi there, I suggest a 1.67 lens minimally or optimally a 1.74 lens.
As your prescription is very high, I wouldn’t suggest a frame that is too broad as it will cause your lenses to be thicker and heavier unless you have a broad face shape. Also it might cause you to have this diminishing effect where your face looks very minified through the lens and some individuals don’t like it.
Material of lenses/index would be 1.67 or 1.74. Polycarbonate 1.59 or trivex 1.53 is out of the question.
I would recommend antifatigue lenses for you like Hoya sync 3, Essilor eyezen or Zeiss digital/energizeme lenses.
practice wise, I would recommend
eyewear optics @thomson plaza
Kj optometrist @ plaza sing
Jamco @ katong shopping centre
Of course do call and make an appt before heading down or if needed, I can recommend you the person to look for too.
Hope this helps!
