Just collected.
Not used to progressive yet, causing slight headache. Not sure if is the brightness, or progressive
Will go back shop, if headache still persist

Index is 1.6. Wonder how come they dun give 1.67

One more thing. For the laohua eye power, seems like it help but when object is close, naked eye is still better.
Is it normal?

Depending on your prescription. It is good to use 1.67 if your prescription is 500 and above.
In general you should be able to use your progressive glasses for near without removing. Unless they did not give you the full reading power at near so as to allow you to adapt easier. The higher the reading power, the more distortion we will get and that will/might lead to giddiness.
If it is your first time using progressives, in general look straight when look at distance object, don’t tilt your head up or you be looking through the wrong zone. When walking , don’t roll your eyes to the bottom of lens to look at the ground, rather tilt your chin down, use the top portion of the lens to view the floor.
when reading, roll your eyes to the lower portion of the lens to use the reading zone to see better.

Naked eye I could still see sharply from 8 cm.

But we rarely hold our materials so close too I suppose? You could try holding your glasses higher/prodding it higher and see if it improves your reading at 15cm.

Just went to get my lens fixed at Kwong Shin, surprised at how much more expensive Hoya was compared to Zeiss. Went with the Duravision, hope it can last as long as my Hoya lenses heh

Tokai vs Asahi Lite vs Shamir single vision lens for short sightedness, which is better? Was looking at 1.67 hi index or higher. can help to rate them? 1 being the best. My previous lens is crizal. Was told that any lens will be better than crizal.

No la not any lens will be better… what’s your prescription like?
If you ask me, I lean with Shamir then toKai then asahi.

For contact lens i wear -6.50 and -7.0 (w/o astigmatism). I have low astigmatism. thinking of getting 1.67 hi index lens or 1.74 hi index lens for my frameless spectacle. Price for 1.74 hi index lens seems to be a great jump. I am concern on len's thickness & weight. Not sure is the difference in weight/thickness of lens great and is 1.74 hi index lens worth paying for?

For a prescription like yours, I would also recommend 1.74. What’s more it is a frameless thus if you are concern on aesthetics and weight, you should do 1.74.
However I would suggest you do invest more on your on brands like Hoya/Zeiss etc… better lens multicoat, sharper clarity etc.

I would say for SIngle vision I lean towards Zeiss for their clarity.
The someone gave a sweeping statement hahaha, can you compare a 20 dollar OEM lenses to crizal?? I can easily name a few Brand’s.
If you are more budget, you can look towards Shamir/toKai/Pentax. If not then even stellify/Hoya lens/Zeiss will be fine( I excluded crizal only because you are planning to change it)

The eyevans I used are 417 and 553. The front is acetate/alloy and the temple is titanium. Hence I’m quite frustrated that the 553 snapped at the temple (hinge).

I like some form of acetate leh, but nevertheless I will check out your recommendations.

I’ve been leaning even more heavily towards Japanese makers the last 10+ years, even including my wardrobe and bags. My masunaga frames lasted quite a while. I still have kanekos somewhere.

Think the lafonts I found on deep discount whilst traveling! I don’t remember paying any more than 150 for them. They are quite beat up, but I still love them since they’ve been with me for so long. I usually wear them or my vintage OPs at home, switching out the ones I wore out for the day.

I’ve got another question - can I diy fix acetate frames? I managed to get some pure or at least high grade acetone from a friend who does lab work. If possible I reckon I’ll try it out on the vintage OP that snapped some time back.

Unfortunately no. Even if you do, it will be temporary, the acetate will not be able to hold unless you can somehow melt/harden the two pieces together. But it might distort the frame outlook/shape.

Lense wise just some reliable with anti blue light for computer usage. Can be branded or own brand
