Do let them know your intended usage, some might suggest half intermediate half near but I would not recommend it. A prescription that is in between kind.

Ok noted. But what exactly is the range (in cm) for near vs intermediate? If I made 2nd pair specs to see far, to use for driving, am I able to see the dashboard speedometer, GPS etc? Or walking down stairs, can see steps or not? :s13: Sorry for noob question as I'm really quite inexperienced with spectacles. Believe it or not, I've never ever washed my 10yo specs bc didn't know got to do it.

Last year Nov , at age of 46, I made my first pair spectacles, a pair of Laohua spec at +1.25. Then change to progressive with short sighted - 0.25 , astigmatism -0.25 and suggested Laohua of +1.5 for both eyes. Last week went back to the shop to replace the lenses ( under warranty) due to coating peeling off. And at the same time made a new pair specs with progressive lenses. This time after some eye test, short sighted and astigmatism remain same, only Laohua suggested to change +1.75 for future proof although the clarity at+1.50 is about the same. So my questions are as below

1) Laohua degree will increased in just a year time,
2) Should I stay at Laohua +1.50 or change to + 1.75
3) If I get the Laohua at +1.75 and switch between spectacles ( that spec with lenses replaced was same as previous degree ) of Laohua +1.50 , will there any side effect in short or long term.

Can any one please advise.
1)presbyopia/laohua usually increases every 1.5-2 years. At 46 your presbyopia should be +1.50 at the very least which is correct for what you get. However for your first pair of progressives, you might have actually required 1.75 but they lower it for your comfort. Thus now that you are adapted, you feel that +1.75 is better.

2) I say go +1.75 as +1.50 will not be sufficient for 1-2 years time.

3) no effect. 1.75 will be good for reading closer work and 1.50 might be slightly better for computer.(reason being we need more reading power to look at things that are closer e.g. document, phone. For fixation like computer or monitor, as the distance is further, we Require lesser reading power).

Hope this helps!

Near usually 30-40cm, intermediate 60+. But it’s subjective, some individual prefer reading further some prefer looking at computer nearer(you get my drift).

depending on your age, if 40-44ish still can see dashboard. Tbh is can see but just not sharp/clear. Going down stairs is fine(counted as distance already).

I have never worn progressive before. I think I won't try. Will just get normal spectacles for my short-sightedness. If I need to see near, will just take off my classes or move the phone screen further away.

I don't wish to spend anything more then $200. So anything decent is good enough for me I guess and owndays fits my budget. But I think I would need to top-up if I want blue filter lens.

Does blue filter lens really work? A lot of online medical articles actually says blue filter lens is not necessary and it has no added advantage.

Eg. https://www.webmd.com/lung/news/20210115/do-blue-light-glasses-work
Hi ahyeo,

This promotion allows you the opportunity to adapt in Varilux Progressive lenses and experience the fit to your vision needs. You may find out more information on this warranty: here.

Hey guys, I’m really keen on getting a pair of Japonism frames…where’s a good recommendation to get them?

My presbyopia is getting worse and need a fix soon…I used to patronise Kwong Shin for my frames, but was wondering if there are better options

I feel cheated, bought a transition oem lens and was told brown is oos and need me to upgrade to 1.56 essior one. Previously I was wearing 1.6 essilor, so i told them I wanted that and they add another hundred . Thought the shop was good and gave me a titanium frame. End up they mixed up and gave me a stainless steel zenx frame+ its a display set which comes with scratches. I was offered the option to wait for the next batch if not +$200 to modify my lens again to fit the new retrocraft titanium frame. At this point of time I felt cheated.

Can I suggest going to eyewear optics? They also do have a selection of Japonisms there.
If required, I can recommend you who to look for.

Hi Gangsterkia, my friend shared with me the details: for a person with short sighted of 500-600 degree both eyes, 1.75 presbyopia and with astig, he needs to make a pair of progressive lens for first time, which Hoya lens would you recommend and appreciate if you share the breakdown of cost. I only told him get those with less distortion lens. Ha
What is digital and blue lens and is it helpful? Sorry I am lazy to google. Thanks in advance

Honestly, most frames you purchase, is always display set. They don’t keep extra if not there’s not space in the shop. Maybe those cheap (xxxxxxx) kind will do. Frames in general is just one piece.
