Hi,
There is a difference in quality depending on the price you pay for the lenses for.
Unless you have high tolerance such that even the basic lenses you can work with them well. If not then the quality difference is noticeable.
So far I visited 2 shops, and they only introduced me the Zeiss office lens. I should have asked if there are other brands to consider. Later I googled and found Hoya Workstyle lens and Varilux Digitime/Provencia. As I have only used progressive for moving around and using single vision for desk work, I have no idea which is suitable. They should have some pictorial samples for consumers to show and compare. Any advise?

Oh man, that’s unfortunate. I guess the best thing to do now, since you purchased it is to try it out first.
If it works well for you then we can treat it as an investment for your next few months/years of comfort..

Hi,
Zeiss 1.6 office lens for 290? Or Zeiss light lens? They have entry level progressives that is around that range.
Zeiss light price compared to office lens is different at 1.6 index too.
Do you have details?
I apologize I do not exactly have the details but he took out a Carl Zeiss book and turned to page "Carl Zeiss Office Lens"
and I saw he pointed at some index and told me this suits you and quoted 290 for it with added in a korean frame (didn't ask the price) - this is the 2nd store.

So the earlier store that I went and paid for is Carl Zeiss Office Lens 1.5 (this is confirmed) $350 + frame $100 = 450.
I just feel that optical personnel should at least provide several range of options starting from low end gradually heading to higher end. I came into store, did an eye test, and BAM ! here you are Carl Zeiss 450 bucks and now "go and bang ball against the wall".

So far no shop ever told me about Kodak lens. How is it compare to your normal progressive lens, I presume you should another pair of progressive for normal use?
I didnt know the lens was Kodak until I collect it.
I didn't ask, they didn't told. May be they did and I didn't pay attendtion.
To me, I just want a simple not expensive progressive office lens so that I will not break my neck.

My daily progressive lens is Hoya Lifestyle V+.

Both serve different area and serve well.

lol. I haven't bought, still looking for a frame to go along with it. But the experience makes me feel that they are pushing 1 brand and not like offering me a suitable solution.

I believe I just got conned for zeiss 1.5 and and unknown plastic frame.
Later in the evening I checked out another optical store and it offered zeiss 1.6 something for 290 with the same frame.
Shitz..

Then there's Lenskart around the corner... I got too hasty.
The secret is to browse around which I normally do.... I guess the headaches really starting to bother me.
Lenskart only hv progtessive lens. they dont have office progressive lens.

Ah I understand how you feel. Like totally no choice and you have to only take this.. that kind of situation.. perhaps if that’s the case then I would suggest you can do with the practice you are more comfortable with…

Ah, because sometimes, there are practices that are extremely familiar with a particular brand thus they are confident and would prefer to just fit that singular brand. Not that other Brand’s are no good just that it’s their preferred choice.

You can consider going to First eyewear East Coast.
They are a group of highly trained, knowledgeable practitioners that have been around for years.
Other practices would include
Eyewear optics@thomson plaza
Jamco optical@katong shopping ctr

If needed I can pm you the Practitioners to look for!
Hi Gangsterkia, can you also PM for the Practitioner for the Thomson Plaza shop? Am planning to make a trip there later.
Thanks 🙏

Good afternoon!
I would strongly suggest using antifatigue/digital lenses.
Examples of lenses would include hoya sync 3, Zeiss digital lens and Essilor eyezen.
Just for this period, hoya actually has an islandwide promotion which would allow sync 3 to have a free upgrade to sync 3 pro.(the pro allows you to have a wider field of field in your vision and more clarity/comfort on the lenses. These lenses are good for individuals who are using digital devices for long hours and for early presbyopes(laohua), based on the age group you mentioned, likely you either have a small amount of

For your prescription I would recommend 1.60 or if you prefer a lesser alternative then it would be the 1.50 index. 1.60 retails at 390 and 1.50 lens retails at 290. Both would get the free upgrade to the pro version.

for your sister, I would recommend 1.74 index which will retail at 640(of course she will get the free upgrade too).

finally adding the blue light filter if you are going for Hoya it will be called full control(extra 70 dollars)

Thus the damage would be
Yourself-470 1.60 sync 3 pro w/full control
Your sister-710 1.74 sync 3 pro w/full control (assuming you are choosing hoya with their promo).
If you need recommendation for retail practices you can let me know too!

Hi,

I enquired at a few shops on the office lens again. I discovered that Queensway shop offer discount for both lens and frame, whereas local spectacle chain shops at usual shopping mall offer discount for frames only and told me that lens price is fixed. Is this true?

The shops offered Zeiss Office Lens 1m or 2m. 1 shop said I should choose the 2m version, whereas the 2nd shop said 1m and another said I can choose between the 2 options. This is making me very confused. Is it possible to test this out? I mean, my monitor screen is placed about 1m away from my eyes at same eye level, and laptops are placed 50-60cm during meetings. As my single vision allows me to see both clearly (but tired eyes after 5 hours) how do I know which one works?

Any advise or experience to share with me will be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Hi,

a few qns to ask.

1) are you planning to wear the office lens even during meeting to see the projection screen? Then simultaneously switching to maybe documents on table, then laptop, phone then back to screen?

it is possible to test it out. Generally if you are sitting at the back, and wish to look at your monitor, then the projection screen which could be further, I would suggest the longer distance office lens. Which is 2m. Or you can look at hoya business lens which can go up to 4m.

Hi,

My first priority is to see my monitor, laptop screen and handphone simultaneously at my desk. If it is possible to use the same pair to see projection screen and at the same time see my laptop screen placed closed in front of me, then it will be super ideal. However, if I have to strain my eyes to see the monitor and laptop just to be able to have the ability to see the projector screen, I will rather get another pair, as it is too painful for my neck and eyes.

Zeiss office lens also have 4m, and they didn't even recommend Hoya. How does both compare?

Hoya has their own office lens called workstyle business or their highest tier called workstyle 3.
The distance for workstyle 3 can be altered to fit your working style thus it can even go up to 6m.
workstyle business on the other hand is similar to Zeiss office lens which is the 2/4m combination.
thus if you want a more premium and able to view farther distance, you can choose hoya workstyle 3. As I mentioned earlier post, there are certain practices that prefer fitting Essilor,Zeiss or hoya thus they will surely choose the one they are most comfortable with.. so really, it depends on how comfortable you are with the practitioner and how well he/she can manage your expectations.
