Hi Gansterkia, what is the price range for LINDBERG thintanium? I have a Lindberg Horn series purchased 4 years ago and it has served me exceptionally well on a daily basis and is now looking for another Lindberg glass for rotation and to portray a more office and professional look
In addition, what other brand of frame is recommended for sporting purpose? my cheapo frame + lens from malaysia looks like failing anytime and is looking for a replacement

Hey there,
Thintanium retails at about 800-870.(I agree thintanium portrays a neat and professional look)
I would suggest Oakleys or cheaper alternatives like under armour specs..

No commentsss. But if you want similar to owndays then next closest is this.
If not then a lot of optical practices is considered decent and able to fulfil your few hundred budget…

Lenskart got cheap meh? There is a huge discrepancy in price between getting your specs made at their physical retail store and making it through their website. Previously i checked with their store around how much for frame + progressive lens and was quoted $168-288 for frame(depending on acetate or metal) + $188 for the most basic 1.6 index progressive lens. There is 1-for-1 promo for gold membership holders and they are offering the membership(worth $30 per year) for free with every frame+lens purchase.

Subsequently, i checked on their website and frame+progressive lens can be as cheap as $148 total and they also giving free gold membership so you qualify for 1-for-1 too. But cheaper frames and lenses are only limited to online purchase. As a buyer, i am cheesed off with their sales tactic of forcing 1-for-1 when all i need is just 1 pair. Also i fail to make any sense of the difference in price between online and shop as though they are deliberately turning people off from buying at shop.

Hey man,
148 is dirt cheap, but quality..
I mean if there are always others who prefer to pay Such prices rather than the usual lens prices for their progressives. So it’s just another alternative compared to owndays.
If given a choice,I would recommend of course to the normal optical practices.
And you are not wrong about the sales tactics too…

Like i said, 148 is supposedly their "online only" price but troublesome part is they still require you to book and go for mandatory eye test at their physical store before you can finalize and pay for the order. Don't know what other caveats or up sell tactics they might resort to when you go for the eye test. Either way, i have more trust in Owndays or Zoff which i don't have much of in the 1st place.

Oh I totally forgot about Zoff. Yes, Zoff is another alternative to owndays. Thanks for reminding me.
but if you are making a pair of progressives, you have to be present physically to do the measurements..

Anyone tried Transitions xtractive? Thinking of getting one but quoted $600 for the Hoya version of it. (Sensity Dark). That's just for the lens as got high degree. I feel it's quite expensive right?

If I may share my experience, i have more than 30 pairs of glasses all the way from Zenni back when no one was doing online glasses, to higher end Japanese and European made frames as well as everything in between.

Lenskart excel at serving a segment of the population slightly on the lower end. They have cheap glasses for around $68 for 2 pairs when on offer. Where they are good at is single vision budget frames for those who like the trendy look and do not mind having to change glasses or owning a few pairs for fashion sake. Their quality is serviceable and a key advantage is they have several outlets and some of them, not all though, provide good customer service and skills in adjustment. I don’t wish to go into nationalitic issues but those who man their physical shops are mostly locals. Their frames and lens are cut and fitted in India and delivered to you but you can opt for collection in stores which is what I would recommend as the staff will adjust them to fit you correctly in the shops.

Even for the 2 pairs from lenskart I had for $68, I still got a personal call from them about a month later asking me how they are working out for me and to go back for exchange or troubleshooting if they are not to my standard. I have spent over $1,000 on a pair of spectacles in smaller local optical shops and not one person there called me back to ask how the spectacles are. In fact, the optician who attended to me when I made my pair even forgotten about me cleanly when I recommended my friend to make glasses there just one month after making my pair, quite embarrassing because even my friend didn’t get the vibe that i know him from earlier.

Lenskart are not the best frames and I would avoid them if I were to do progressives or higher range models because the value proposition drops exponentially. If u want a classic, durable, titanium frame with better lenses that u can use for many years, better to go with Japanese frames or Austrian/ German/ Swiss/ Danish frames. Italian ones can be good but also due to the large numbers they mass produce, quality can be all over the place for run of the mill luxxotica ones. Those are even lower in quality than Korean ones made with Ultem or TR90 material.

Objectively speaking, I see Lenskart as good competition (a hybrid model of combining technology with traditional bricks and mortar) and also an impetus for the industry as a whole to up their customer service game and other value added services in order to compete. Btw, I did my eye check physically from their store after i made my online order, they will give u a prescription card which you can upload yourself online or ask the shop to do it for you based on your order number. There was no hardsell or bait and switch.

Hi!
May I suggest you using anti fatigue lenses still?
Based on your prescription,’you should be using 1.74 index lenses.
Lenses such as (no particular order)
1)Hoya sync 3
2)Zeiss digital lens
3)Essilor crizal Eyezen

they have a “boost”/relaxation power at the bottom to help relax your eyes muscle when looking at near/computer screen(whether or not you are “lao hua”)

Hi, actually depending on which tier/design of lenses you are getting.. 600 for progressive sensity dark is cheap.. for single vision, is it the nulux Ep series, nulux classic, nulux v+?
Also what prescription are you at for now? If it’s high then unfortunately the price for the lenses will be naturally higher.

xtraactive is an older design whereas Hoya photochromic lenses is using the new sensity 2 design which darkens faster and fade to clear faster too..

@GANGSTERKIA Hey bro, any recommendation for Lindberg shops? I have a wide face and need to look at the wider series type. Just getting the frame and then go JB to fit Mystyle V+ 1.6 lenses with transition and blue ray ($1040).

Was quoted around $633 for this Lindberg frame from another shop in JB:

What do you think? I read customisation may be required so not sure if advisable to get from JB for Lindberg.
