Optometrist here working in a retail shop.I have always been using 1.59 for my specs. Recently just make a rayban sunglasses with 1.59 also
Does 1.74 really make a difference if i am 325/350?
The best is it 1.74 with everything like progressive and blue lens included? Like this very expensive right but will the difference be felt at my level of prescription?
Not necessarily. Zeiss prescriber here. Smartlife Digital Individual lenses can still be ordered without the pantoscopic angle indicated. Often, if no pantoscopic angle is written, the lab will give a default value of ~7 degrees, which is typical for most frames.Hi @Optometrist @GANGSTERKIA
I paid $780 for Zeiss digital lens 1.66, which should be RRP of the smartlife digital individual, but the optician didn’t measure panto angle and only did marking of the focal point.
Did I get scam?
Smartlife individual should have taken those measurement, but since it was not taken, I was given the normal smart life instead?
Hi. Regarding Zeiss progressive lens, may i know your thoughts/recommendations on the SmartLife PRO?Not necessarily. Zeiss prescriber here. Unless your prescription is high, it may not make too much of a difference. If the pantoscopic tilt is too much, then we use it to compensate against the fitting height.
If you have the budget for it, then the Zeiss Individual lenses are definitely one of the best in the market right now. It has an extremely wide distance and reading viewing areas, reducing the need for head turns and distortion areas.Hi. Regarding Zeiss progressive lens, may i know your thoughts/recommendations on the SmartLife PRO?
Specifically the Individual?
This seems to be the most expensive and highest tier for progressive lens.
Yes the difference is mainly the customisation. For the regular Smartlife Digital lenses, apart from the prescription and focal points (pupil distance and fitting height), the rest of the values are based off default values which are calculated based on age.Thank you for sharing!
Could you share what’s the difference between the smartlife digital individual and smartlife digital lens?
And if there are any differences in what measurements should be collected for both lenses?
Another optician mentioned that they are the same lenses, with difference being the measurement (panto tilt etc.) and customisation on how the frame sits on the face
Zeiss Photofusion Blue lenses are a bit more towards “ocean blue” colour, while Hoya Sensity Blue are more of a “midnight blue” colour. If you want a more obvious blue colour for your transition lenses, I will recommend Zeiss. If you want something darker yet with a tinge of blue, then I will recommend Hoya lenses.Hi,
currently looking for a non-prescription photochromic lens for a semi rimless frame, currently have Zeiss or Hoya in mind:
Zeiss Photofusion Blue + Duravision Platinum
Hoya Sensity Oceanic Blue + HVLL/Full Control
Any significant pros and cons between the two? And anything I should look to add?
And should I be concerned with index? Lens material?
I had my cataract done last year, and I have a pair of progressive lens made at an neighbourhood shop. It is not very good. I am planning to make a better lens, less distortion and a wider angle without turning the head too much.Yes the difference is mainly the customisation. For the Smartlife Digital Individual lenses, the practitioner can choose (above the prescription and focal points) individual patient frame details, such as pantoscopic tilt, vertex distance, bow angle and frame fit value (where the reading point starts from). In my opinion, it’s recommended if your frame is smaller or you have a higher ADD (reading power). I do think that it has slightly lesser distortion compared to the regular Smartlife Digital though.
