Oh no no! That will result in your distance being severely affected.
The only point of doing that is so that your glasses will become a reading/intermediate only glasses. If your that much of power is shaved off your distance prescription then the resultant effect will be being underpowered for distance vision.
For progressive lenses wise, You won't have much issue but only adaptation to a progressive lens probably. The way to use the lens tilting of eyes/head movement. When reading either Chin up or eyes roll down(depending on how the glasses is prescribed for you). This, your optom/optician will explain to you on how to use the New lenses.
The peripheral distortion is caused by your reading power being incorporated into the the lens. So you will notice for progressive/highest ADD digital lenses that the peripheral area is blurred and you need to actually turn your head to face the area rather then just moving your eyes to the side.
Progressive lenses are more of a lifestyle change in terms of your reading habit, walking around/moving around habit. Yes it is costly depending on what kind of lenses you use. Adaptation is a must, unless you rather use a pair for distance and another for reading.. I have customers doing that as they swear against progressives but i feel it's troublesome bringing 2 frames along. It's ultimately your choice, we will do our best to advise you.😅
Hope this helps for now and feel free to ask over here or pm!

Does it mean just take the SPH reading minus off the ADD reading is the prescription to order lens then no need progressive right? I have no issues with vision yet but taking preparations so that i know wat to do when it hits me anytime soon. Im going to be 40 soon and very high SPH and CYL. Will there be any issues? My optom said i might have adaption problems but progreesive lenses are much more costly.

Off hand, I can think of, jamco, Pearl's optical(Chinatown), Kwong shin, mr eyewear at Bukit Batok, lens man parkway, kh optometrist.. they have quite a wide selection of frames😂. These places have really good optometrist/optician/refractionist too. Prices also can negotiate, you will be safe in their hands👍🏻

I see.. But i dont really like lindberg lenses too flexible for me i prefer more hardy frames.

My optician recommended to do one glasses for reading. Means i need to get 2 glasses by my side all the time? Thats quite hassle too.
Turning my eyes for progressive also seem not so easy.

Just hope i dont get presyopia so soon and let me enjoy few more years of single vision!

Well, imho, if I do that, I feel like I am promoting my own workplace. And since my main aim here is just to help out fellow forumers unless they specifically ask where am I working at.

Precisely! I also feel lugging 2 frames is troublesome. So need to get adapted to progressives. If so many people can do it, why not us? It takes time and of course, fulfilling the expectation of the customer and not overpromising on the clarity of the progressive.
Sorry to say as soon as we hit 40-42...it will come. The reason some ppl do not use at that age is because honestly... they just refuse to believe they have presbyopia and would rather push their reading material further. But soon enough, they will cave in haha...

What about Lindberg acetanium series? Those are pretty hardy... of course there's many other Brand’s. I think starck is good. Even Oliver people(Japan), eyevans are good...

Thats depressing to hear. Another 3 more years for me to push maybe 5 max and Thats it la. For me now im already paying rrp700 for SV lens. I think hoya progressive at least 50% more and thats only one pair. I have a few pairs at home imagine the cost of replacment.

Whats hoya best progressive lens in mkt right now? Meaning which serie easiest to adapt for ple like me who finds it extremely hard to adapt?

I prefer beta titanium actually more sturdy secure grip retain shape better and a bit of flexibility for comfort. If choose acetate must make sure there is metal insert inside to retain shape else my past experiences tell me that plastic easy to lose grip over time due to wear and heat. Lindberg frame i find that their temples quite thin cant really give me the security i need. ¯\_(ツ)_/ personal preference and habits cant change.

From this, there's a small possibility that the Add power might be a little high.. maybe just +0.75-+1.00 is needed, But its all just speculations! You can always go back to check with your optom again to see if that's the case. Let me know the outcome tomorrow!:)

I got my lens recheck and pull out my details at my optical shop. Confirmed the prescription i gave u earlier is correct. No astig.

May i know what is the implication if the ADD is too high? Having strain is the effect of too much ADD. Do i need to replace my lens or by changing habit,e.g. not to look thru lowest part of my lens etc?

Btw, could u pm me ur shop detail so I know who to look for next time.

Thx!

Bro, can consider anti-fatigue lens like eyezen or digital lens etc to prepare u for progressive lens in future. The distortion is much lesser and the "usage" is almost the same. Less aggressive i would say.

Tried eyezen before. Cant adapt. Makes me giddy. And some areas are not sharp. So i throw one side never use anymore. Hai.

Same here. My digital lens also make me giddy for first 2 weeks. After adaptation period is ok. I noticed u cannot use these anti-fatigue lens like a SV lens. U need to move ur head rather then ur eyes to look at things or text at the sides. When time to come, progressive lens will work similar way and the adaptation will be more difficult. The distortion is more at the sides. ( u can refer to the picture Gansterkia posted earlier). But I do know of some of my friends who has totally no issues getting use to progressive lens on first day.

Just did my first pair of digital lens. Feel damn weird. Like floating floating like that. Need some time to get used. Still prefer single vision, but did not want to be bringing 2 pairs (one for far and another for near)

Hope can get used to it. But quite interesting. Tilt head up n down can see diff clarity lol.

Good afternoon, if you do have astigmatism then you should get it corrected for sure. If not it will surely be blurred.
Inregards to your question, yes , Lenses in the market corrects myopia coupled with astigmatism and has the blue filter coating with the high index.
