What kind of frames are you looking for? There's still a wide range of frame available. Design wise also.. metal or plastic ? Any preference?

Btw any reason why not Lux?
Just interested in alternatives since lux is monoploy with obscene pricing. Read they bought over essilor (crizal) too.

If unknown brand then considered quite expensive imo. Unbranded lens can be as cheap as 50$.

Saw this early last year, somewhat more branded yet affordable.

Pentax is under hoya. Pentax is their 3rd tier lenses. HVLL(normal hoya lens), HVP(stellify) and then INC(Pentax). That explains the price but it is still comfortable enough to wear.

Eyevans are very hard quality frames.

Pearl's optical is also one of the best there is in spore. Very busy place with good optometrists.

Hey, if go by conversion 1/3. You would be paying 500. 1.67 blue protect would cost 350.. a zeiss frame would cost 260-280... You probably save abit. I don't think kenna Tok!

confirm authentic... cause i got the oakley international model which is at 80 cheaper then asian fit... then i went to oakley service center to install the asian nose pads at $12 and thus save the extra cost.:D.. i done it for my 2 pairs already... if the frame is fake they will not change for u... And smartbuyglasses.com got partner with optical88 in singapore one.. U can go opticall88 to have yr eyecheck for free when u do yr glass in smartbuyglass. They are from the same boss so confirm they frames all are real

Thanks gangsterkia. Just got in my second pair of eyevans after ditching op due to quality issues.

I've been visiting Pearl's since I started wearing spectacles (family friends or something) so I never knew how good they really are compared to other shops.

Just needed a second (from someone who knows their ****) opinion so your reply is very much appreciated

1)Is there a reason for you to switch over to Tokai at this point of time? Superior or not, i believe it's up to the individual clarity tolerance. As some might not find any difference between a 100dollars lens and a 300dollars single vision lenses. So if Zeiss is working well for you, usually theres not much reason to change. BUT you are the customer so you have the final say in this case but IMHO zeiss lenses are already one of the best you can get. I have a pair of Tokai lens in the past and i see no difference in clarity compared to my cheapo 90 dollar lens(partially i have a high tolerance).

2)Blue light Lenses generally is used to either reflect or absorb a certain percentage of BL emitted from electronic devices. But majority of them still comes from the sun. The lenses basically helps to reduce the glare due to the slight yellowish tinge of the lenses, effectively reducing your eye strain.
But there are other brand of lenses which do not have the yellowish tinge but at the same time able to absorb the blue light,(some people do not like that tinge) so usually i would recommend the other brand which is shamir blue zero whereby it does it's job and not compromising on the colour-perception of the customer.

3)There is no best but probably a preferred choice. For me, i am leaning towards Zeiss, Hoya, Essilor and Shamir. There are more but i usually face lesser problems when i prescribe lenses from these lens manufacturers.

Regarding your first paragraph, Sometimes if there's no issue with your lenses, it's best not to change it. There are afew reasons, but e.g. if they are pro-zeiss, any servicing issue, usually will be easier to liaise with the customer service, but if they dont really order from other brands even though they have an account with them, the aftercare service might not be as efficient.(MY POV). As i said, there's many reasons but, if you are comfortable with them, then just trust their advice!

Hope this helps for now!

Hi, thanks so much for getting back to me! I didn't get a notification so I didn't catch this till now. I guess I'll respond in the same format.

1. I'm currently on the Zeiss lens with the blue tint for just over a year so I miss vision without the hue for one. I guess I was under the impression that I'd get better acuity or clarity the more money I throw at it. But according to your post, I learn that's not the case. I use contact lenses sometimes and was hoping that I could get glasses to come close to that type of vision but without the discomfort.

2. I actually have Zeiss's blue protect lenses at the moment but I bought that with the intent to use it while at work and get a complementing pair without the tint for when I'm not at the computer for long hours. That didn't work out since I "next week I'll get it" all the way till now :s13: But since it's pretty much summer where I'm at, I tend to go out more after work due to the longer evenings. I'll definitely look at the Shamir ones, seems like best of both worlds. On the other hand, would having a pair of glasses for each use case be optimal if clarity is my goal?

3. Good to know regarding preferred brands. I assume by using "prescribe", you're an optometrist yourself?

I wonder if I should just double down and get laser. :s22:
