Sounds like a price most shops could offer you. If you comfortable with them then go ahead! Think it’s a 1.60 lens, you might want to consider 1.67.. about 40-50 more.

foptics quoted me $1,176 (after discount) for varilux physio 3.0 1.67 index (+ Transitions), and $1,620 for varilux x 1.74 (+ Transitions)... good deal?

Both prices inclusive of their in-house frames, but frankly speaking the choices really really limited and the design CMI.

My degree quite high 700++, using varilux physio 3.0 now, so "downgrading" is not really an option :p

essilor...

I'll rather choose hoya, better quality

Hi there,

Yes I honestly believe it’s really worth every penny you spend. The comfort , quality and aesthetics makes every single cent worth.

My first pair of Lindberg I immediately went for the buffalo horn(you don’t have to do the same), but up til now about 4-5 years, it is still going strong, only thing to service is just changing nosepads(foc for Lindberg servicing), and polishing the horn material. I dropped quite afew times, bathed, do my sports with it and no issue still. I actually have 4 pairs haha.. so like nethdale mentioned, it’s not easy to find another frame once you use it due to the frame fit..

Lindberg has different series, but I highly recommend the N.O.W or Acetanium series. Rim is also a nice option, though I feel it doesn’t look as professional as compared to the other series.

For myself, I have a horn, N.O.W, Rim and Acetanium.

Hi GANGSTERKIA - how do you 'clean' your horn specs - soap or wipes? esp with COVID nowadays? Can pm me your shop details? Thanks!

No you don’t diy it yourself unless you have the proper tools and wax. Soap might cause the horn to discolour. Wipes like alcohol wipes might cause the horn to dry up faster thus breaking easier.
Generally, using non alcohol wipes to clean the frame front, then using wax to polish then horn. There’s also a certain technique to do it.
To be frank, I might leave my current workplace due to certain reasons, thus maybe I can recommend you to another shop that can handle such frames well?

Waa boss, u just change shop not long ago, now wanna ciao again? Another shop paying you higher to dig u over? Dont mind pm your new shop name?

Actually horn very hard to maintain. Even bamboo i also worried because of sg humid weather thats why scared to try and these special materials are expensive to buy and upkeep as well. Only know titanium and plastic safer.

Horn generally better to maintain here than in colder countries whereby it dries up quicker thus needed to go for polishing more often.

But again it’s very niche and subjective to different individuals so like you said, most will prefer titanium/plastic whereas a small group prefer the horn for the qualities.

Personally, I feel we need to be gentle when handling all types of frames? The staff said my horn looks "new" when I sent back to the optical shop for polishing and waxing. Probably, I rotate it? But I always handle with care for all my Lindberg. ;)

PS: Gangsterkia, did you hoot your Unica Horn? Haa

Means bamboo material will suit colder countries right? As bamboo cannot get wet.
