hi,
Would like to check if there are any recommendations for optical shop?
I have been recently having double-vision when looking at things and it is hard to focus.
I have been getting my specs from Pearl Optical in chinatown but I am also looking at alternatives.
foptics also in Chinatown near the overhead bridge

Thanks for the reply. Does any shop do it for free? Or usually have to buy glasses. If yes, where would be the cheapest place to go?
I suggest if you want cheap you can look towards e.g. lens kart, owndays or eyezone(they have some really cheap basic frame and lens package). At the same time can check your glasses and degree with a fee of course.

Anyone know or hear before the maximum diopter difference between 2 eyes one can tolerate? Google says 2 or more will cause problem but thinking if anything greater can still be tolerate?

Due to surgery, I end up with diff power in both eyes and the difference now is 2 diopter (-5.75 & -3.75) but waiting for the -3.75 power to stablize.

Just thinking if my doc had made difference too wide to balance when I am going make my new progressive spec.

Eyesight not as it is used to be, sigh...
Maybe you can look at
kj optometrist at plaza sing
Jamco optical at katong shopping Center
Eyewear optics at Thomson Plaza.
They have great staff that are knowledgeable and helpful.

Hi, anyone have the comparison between Tokai transition , Carl zeiss and Kodak ? In term of clarity, how will you rate them. I tried essilior and I don’t like it compare to Carl zeiss.

TIA

Hi,
Zeiss, (either tokai/Kodak). Both are about the same.

Hi,
It depends on the individual level of tolerance and expectation.
I seen some with 3.00D difference and they are still fine..
I would recommend you to try on the tested prescription on the trial frame first and then decide to see if it is comfortable enough.

Hi everyone!

I am currently shopping for lenses (Single Vision about -300 each eye) to fit into a pair of glasses i bought. I have always been using the standard house brand that the glasses shop provide and i am looking for an improvement or upgrade for that? Can anyone recommend something for me?

Hey ,
Do you know what is the inhouse brand lenses you are using or what is the usual cost you pay for them?
What kind of improvement/upgrade are you looking towards? Slight thinner lens? Better clarity?

I dont usually top up for lenses, so i guess its the cheapest and most basic one there is. Probably better clarity and high scratch resistance.

I would suggest Pentax, kodak as they are the cheaper lenses among the better ones out there.
