Oh man, 1.56 100% cnt take nylon/rimlon frame. It’s too brittle.. in general, we won’t recommend it to the consumers unless consumers die die want cheap and we always fore warn before hand..

1.6 is the cheapest from about 120 onwards(generic brands), trivex(Hoya jap brand) and polycarbonate(Essilor) will be about 200..

Thanks, any shops recommendation near Holland V/Bukit Timah/Clementi area?

Hi. Got my own frames. For progressive, am thinking of getting the mid tier varilux max comfort. So, the office lens budget should mostly be half of my progressive.

If I assume your prescription to be Low, probably a 1.5 index lenses would be enough.
You would be able to get a pair of basic office lenses around 250.

Just want to post to thank @GANGSTERKIA for answering the technical aspects of my previous questions. It was helpful and u were right, after checking with the optometrist from the new shop we went, the design is called metal rimlom which some other shops actually declined to replace for us, no idea why they can't do it..

Just for update, we called to ask on price and turnover time from the shop u shared. But in the end, we found another shop where the staff is knowledgeable and patient in answering and solving our query, price and service also good. They offered us a good price for polycarbonate lens, so decided to try. Had gotten the spec back, all good so far. 😊

Hi folks,

1. For progressive lenses, is Zeiss Smartlife Plus better than Zeiss Smartlife Pure in terms of the "side-to-side" distortion and the progressive reading quality? I'm mid-40s and in the teaching profession, so I need to move from looking at students to my notes and to the screen and PC quite a bit for a long period daily. Eye comfort is important to me and I'm willing to pay more (by not excessively so) if necessary.

2. For those who tried both, is the superiority of Plus over Pure noticeable?

3. What is the approx. prices for Zeiss 1.5 Smartlife Pure and Plus (both with BlueGuard) for the following:

SPH CYL AXIS ADD
-000 -025 00 +150
-075 -025 00 +150

Thanks!

hi folks - anyone has experience with kodak evosun lens?

I have low degree (75/100 degree) and was thinking of making lens with transition that I can use for driving.
I have an old frame that I am thinking of reusing so just need the lens.
I went to check transition lens and got quoted 250++, then one shop quote me evosun for $150.

any feedback on pricing and evosun? googling i found there is evoblue. Is that better?

Good evening, your prescription is actually really Low.
I have to ask Afew qns.
Usually when you are outside do you wear glasses?
do you only plan to wear the glasses when you are doing your work e.g. in classroom or back at your office desk?

to answer your qns
1)yes precision plus/Asiana is better than precision pure in terms of having lesser peripheral distortions.

2)depending on their add power. With something Mid like yours, they might not feel the differences too much.

Hi Gangsterkia,

Thanks for following up! I did my first progessive 2 years back. The SPH was -000 and -100, so it pretty much maintained since then. ADD was 100 and I recently found it harder to read even with the glasses on--which is why I'm considering a change.

Outside work, I could go without glasses for, say, 70% of the time and activities. The 30% include things like reading menu, checking ingredients when grocery shopping, and multitasking (watching K-drama on TV and reading books or replying emails etc. on my tablet or phone at the same time).

Hi’
Then I would say the precision plus/Asiana would be good enough for you. Sharp distance vision too with more than enough room for your intermediate and near.
