But is evosun comparable to the essilor crizal transition lens?

Or am I just paying more for branding? Coz the diff is like $100 almost 50% more for transition vs evosun

Hi! What you mentioned is can actually be purchased at a much cheaper price.
Is it because your prescription is high? And were you quoted only just for the lenses itself?
many presbyopia/laohua?

Hi, fellow edmwers. Can someone pls hlp to identify the optical shop mentioned in the adv news article ? I have the same bad experience prescribing spectacles with progressive lens as the reporter of the abv article and I'd really like to try my luck at this shop. tqvm
Hello,
My Chinese is really bad but I still managed to tried reading through. Seems like they never mentioned the name of the practice.
However there are many practices that have skilled practitioners too..

Thank you for the reply, bro. Yes, the reporter is not obilgated to advertised for the shop, hence the shop name is not mentioned. He only mentioned the shop is located in an old mall in city area and it is not eye catching, hence it can be easily missed.

Can you hlp to recommend a few shops with skilled practitioners to prescribe progressive lens ?

Sure. You do have to make an appt first before going down.
1)first eyewear East Coast@East Coast road
2)jamco optical@katong shopping center
3)eyewear optics@thomson plaza.
If needed I can pm you the practitioner to look for. But in general, all of them are skilled and reliable.

200-300 actually 1.55 index lenses is more than enough. Photochromic lenses by themselves already do help filter out a certain percentage of blue light.. thus lenses wise you can budget yourself to about 250? The rest can go to frame…
Asahi..is similar tier to Kodak,Pentax etc.
As compared to the big Brand’s like hoya, Essilor and Zeiss… then different..

Hi there,
Need some advice/recommendations for progressive lens

Currently age 45. My shortsighted power is around 425/450
My longsighted power is currently around 125
Due to a wide face, my current lenses are quite large and combined with my higher power I prefer 1.74 index power lenses in order for the edges not to be so thick.

I'm not well versed with progressive lens as this will be my first time wearing but what are the brands and range for progressive lens that I should be looking for? I usually go to my optician in lucky plaza basement and I usually buy local or Japanese brands for 1.74 index. Recently visited him and he quoted me local brand progressive lens 1.74 index for $480 (he said the 'intermediate' portion for this brand is around 4mm?).

I understand this price is quite cheap as far as progressive lens is concerned but this is probably because this is this local brand, but I'm also concerned if the more expensive, "branded" or "well-known" international brands out there have any 'technology' or better features that perhaps I should consider first before finalizing my decision to buy the local brand my optician quoted me?

My prescription:
R: +0, -0.5, 090
L: +0.5, -4.25, 165

Add +1.5 for Progressive. Left lens always make my glasses cost a bomb. Progressive cost ++. A few shops I went to tell me no photochromic cos of the degree. I'm 44 this year so a bit worried my presbyopia may still fluctuate a bit. Should I pay more to make a good pair of specs or should I just get cheaper ones to tide over until my degree is stable? My presbyopia increased a bit over the past 2 years so not very inclined to dump more $ on a good pair. Any opticians to recommend in Queenstown area? Seng Li si bei expensive :(

Hi there,
Seng li *might be expensive as they probably quoted a better brand of progressive lenses. Optiquezone queensway and Seng Li are one of the better practices in queensway shopping center.

Your presbyopia will usually increase til you hit 50-53 then it will maintain. But the notion of not spending for it to stabilise is not good. Because if you opt for cheaper lenses which might not be comfortable, you essential are stuck with a maybe 300-400 pair of lenses and it might cause you to think all progressives are bad.
I would strongly suggest that you invest in a better pair of lenses that could last you for 2-3 years. Lenses like hoya, Zeiss would be good.

Well... the ones that Seng Li quoted back then was not progressive. It was 300+ for Hoya lenses. I wore that pair for 1 year before presbyopia set in so that pair was kinda wasted now since I cannot wear it without getting a bad headache. I'm currently using owndays ones to try. Really not as comfortable but much more bearable than the headaches.

Ah ok, owndays likely? gave you an antifatigue maybe that’s why it’s more bearable? but yeah you should really get a progressive now. And a better pair, so it can last you longer with less stress!
