There's no single brand that is best for everyone. Everyone's eyes are different, so should a progressive lens. It should be customized to your eyes

Try looking for shops that don't just blindly recommend lenses based on "which lenses is more branded" or "The most expensive lenses"

The recommendations should revolve around what suits your eyes best based on your prescription, lifestyle & work habit.

I have another question. My prescription on both eyes is around -5.25 to -5.50, and astig -1.25.

I have two pairs of spectacles. The main one uses 1.67 refractive index plastic lenses. The spare glasses use 1.60 refractive index plastic lenses.

When using the 1.60 lens I find that objects appear slightly larger and it is more comfortable to use compared to my 1.67 lens. This is apparent when trying to read things on screen.

I understand that the shrinking of objects is called minification and is related to lens power and not refractive index. So why is it that my 1.60 lens makes things look bigger? Is it that the frame puts the 1.67 lens further away from my eyes? Is it to do with the lens curvature? Appreciate any comments. Thanks

Hi! Lens curvature & distance of frame to face does play a part in magnification/minification.
For your prescription:
More curve = bigger image | More flat = smaller image
Further from face = Smaller image | Nearer to face = bigger image

However, image size difference due to curvature is not very obvious. In your case, I'm guessing distance from face could be the culprit for your discomfort. Can't really tell if I'm not looking at how the specs rest on the face.

Distance of specs from face also plays a big part in intermediate viewing when using a pair of progressive.

Probably get lenses from Zeiss, Tokai, Hoya or Asahi lite ba. More value for money. Asahi Lite probably similar price to your previous one but definitely longer lasting.

Always use a microfibre cloth to clean. using shirt or tissues gonna scratch it faster

Thanks! Where can I find these brands of lens? My budget for lens + frames at most 200+. Is it too low?

Also, my frame cannot be too big because I always wear safety glasses at work. Another way is to just buy a prescription safety glass haha.

Why those lenses from those popular stores so easily scratch ah? Is it because other lenses got special coatings?

Last time I always get specs from New China optic at peninsula plaza. I don't remember having scratches on the lens leh.

Depends on where they source the material from. In order to sell at a cheaper price point, they definitely cant sell quality products from Japan, France or Germany brands.

Want even cheaper, the lens quality gets even more compromised. E.g. Add more acrylic into the lenses, use a lower quality lacquer for hardcoat or dont even add a hardcoat.

resulting in a lens that has poor optical properties, scratches very easily & coating peels constantly.

I bought a rx 1.6 essilor sapphire transition lens and went to exchange 2 times. 1st time they did a machine card and there was bubbles so exchanged, it came with a card. 2nd time the coating came off but it also came with a card. However on my 3rd exchange the shop say as this is ur 2nd exchange there is no card. Is this true? Using the transition gen 8

Yup there are indeed lenses that turns blue also. But dont think they turn the same rate and have same col as sapphire Transition Gen 8

Nulux classic and hilux are both single vision lenses.
nulux lenses are aspheric which is better for frames that are flat, as compared to hilux which is spherical which is better for frames that are curve e.g. Oakley cross link. Nulux trueform and identity v are similar but have the option of adding in more customisation to improve the wearer comfort. The latter has more options for that.
