Actually, buying progressive lenses shouldn't be like this. shouldn't look at brand, then see models, then tikam.
1st step of buying progressive is to go to a progressive expert. Someone who really understands lenses, how these lenses perform for different types of people, face shape, frame, prescription & lifestyle. Then let the expert assist in your selection by analyzing your specific needs.

My view on branded stuff is that its a good to have, if you found a newbie sales person or someone who don't know they stuff. Pretty safe.

I usually like to tweak the curve, prism & inset to get the best for my customers, resulting in lens performance way better than the branded ones but still not as costly. (unfortunately the big 3 cant do what I require as theirs are all pre set, meaning A,b,C with 3 different set of eyes get same setting.

Ok leh. Just now Zoff replied me on Facebook they use Hoya lens. I was quite surprised. True?

Context: Bought Hoya 1.50 lens @ $290 + Topup $70 promo to upgrade Full Control (includes BlueControl, UV, Anti-bac, premium coating). 1st pic in their brochure booklet below.

Issue: When i used the Shamir Blue Laser pen to test the newly minted Hoya lenses, the Blue laser shoots through @ 100% strength.

Tried testing the Shamir laser on my old crizal & nikon lenses, both able to block 60-70% and only a faint blue is let through. The new Hoya lenses lets thru 100% bright blue laser on the other side... Is it suppose to be like this? So i question their blue light filtering. The shop can't answer me, want to send back to lab for checking.

Question: Are Hoya FULL CONTROL series suppose to let through 100% blue light on Shamir laser pen? Will seriously reconsider if their blue light filter is of non-existence.

Blue Control by Hoya is a blue coating that reduces 20-30% blue light across the whole blue spectrum (400nm to 550nm) more used for people who's eye are sensitive to bright light.

Lenses that blocks the blue light from blue laser (415nm) such as Tokai Lutina, Asahi Lite 3G, Kodak City & Essilor blue UV capture blocks up to 94% of the harmful High Energy Visible(Blue) light & allow the beneficial light from ~425nm to 550nm through to the eyes.

Charmant has 2-3 range of titanium. If you compare apple to apple against IC berlin, I suggest looking at their higher range.
Charmant Z titanium & Line Art series(~500-800) vs IC! Berlin (~680-980)

Both are very good quality, You'll need to put them on to try out the comfort. Charmant frames have a better grip but IC! Berlin frames are very light

In addition, any advice on prescription cycling glasses in Singapore context? I usually cycle before sunrise, so don't really need the sunglasses/photochromic lens. I don't wear contact lens.

Didnt know Charmant also got so highend series......

Then i will probably go for IC Berlin
My only concern is its not made of titanium for that kind of price but their designs are nicer haha

IC! Berlin has a titanium series as well (Onono)

for solely cycling glasses, I would recommend Rudy projects, they are pretty comfortable and able to fit the inserts onto the frame.. eyewear optics have quite a number of those..
