No discounts most at neighbourhood shops only. But be careful some carry fakes.

Ordered frame and lens from TaoBao

Hi All,

just sharing here.
i successfully ordered and received my sunglasss from Taobao.
(u can also order normal lens or transition lens )

before u order, u need your eye sight index.

how to get these: visit your optican and get it
for PD some shop dont tell u, u can ask someone to measure for u.
usually it is stated on the TB shop how to measure it.

here is the steps:
1) search TB for lens type u want (1.6, 1.67 , transition etc) the lens price are in PAIR, not single lens search around , a PAIR of 1.6 cost 180 RMB, 1.67 320 RMB, transition 240 RMB and above)
2) there is usually a package to go with the lens , so look around
3) search the frame u want if this TB shop do not have what u want, move on to the next TB shop.

note: they dont allow u buy frame from one shop and send over to make lens. they only prefer 1 stop service (frame and lens as a package)
i always preferred to order from Tmall shop vs TB shop.

once u decided, u can msg the TB chat online
u need to tell them your eye sight index in order to confirm the price.
usually if u have high astig or special lens, they will tell u to top up.

how to top up the difference?
the same TB shop will have those 1RMB items (usually spectacles legs or retainer) if they tell u the differences is 100RMB, u just need to place an order of 100 pcs of 1RMB

the time to make is 8 -10 days , i ordered and it took 12 days to deliver to me.

U can choose to pay a deposit first and balance payment upon collection or full payment up front.

bro........now then i realize yr pain abt finding the right frame.....i still figuring out.

recently just settled for tag........most expensive specs i ever bought, but i tried it and it feels really good. i hesitated for quite some time, before tooking the plunge......hope i found the right one........else money wasted again. and damn heart pain.

Oh I also look at tag recently but I don't like anymore. I just hoot a new Alan mikli starck black plastic frame fit very good, $770. But ah boy tag exp Lei thought u won't spent so much. U took which tag model? Rubber temples or the new ones? Their plastic fitting not as good

wah all yr frame all damn expensive one...

my tag heuer not those ultra expensive type, mid range nia. ard 500+ dollars. ya rubber temple. i tried their plastic range, heavier than the one i got.....so i nvr get.

made a pair of specs with zeiss lens. but was informed that due to my lens is not under progressive or rx range, that's why no guarantee card is issued. but there's the zeiss logo present on the lens.

is it authentic or? because I thought all zeiss lenses will be issued a card and at least a cleaning cloth.

Hi. I almost bought into this bull crap too a few weeks back. I emailed zeiss and this is the reply from zeiss. Just insist in getting all these...I insisted and gotten the warranty card and laser engraving of logo at the end

Mine has the laser engraving on the lenses though. I actually don't mind whether have card anot but just want to know if really only high end range got card and cleaning kit nia.

because when I went to make the frame, the optician still showed me another customer's specs which was bundled with zeiss warranty card but what left me perplexed was that the boss of the shop is a relative so don't want in the end tio pple say I kick up big fuss cz of a card etc

I actually insisted to the boss abt the card after the couple of hundred pages I've voewed through here but he mumbled sth abt they already kept a record with the lab and should anything goes wrong with the lenses he will sent them straight back.

is the laser logo sufficient enough to prove the lenses are authentic?

edit: mine is single vision lens, not transitions btw.

guys, normally how many discount can you get compare with list price when you bought lens from he shop? plan to get essilor progressive transition lens, saw the brochure from essilor with list price, some shop no discount at all, some shop offered 5%, 10%, even 25% discount, really confused...

Its been time for a new specs. Lens getting lots of scratches.

But i got alot of criteria to consider,

1) need a wide frame
2) hopefully got a clip-on that comes with it. Easy to mount and take out for driving use
