hi guys, just wanna ask what are your views on owndays?
i see that they use a different kind of lens which they call it aspheric lens which is thinner.
looking at the air untem series with ultra thin lens which makes everything abt $278. worth it?

reason for ultra thin lens is cos my degree is too high.
but i only need it on one side.

every optical shop will have aspheric lens as long as u ask for it, they will explain the uses, but i dont see a need for it(another way to up price?). owndays to me is not a very good idea i think. they are going mass market instead of the best quality to me, thats what i feel.

Thanks. I hope they can give more discount for returning customer. I may pop in to optometrist@work next door too.

I would not spend too much for the new pair of spectacles as I intend to use it for outdoor purposes that is sweaty and sticky.

My current silhouette will be reserve for office work usage. This is why I need a pair of progressive lenses.

yeah bro its your choice check for the best price and best quality, maybe u can try out plastic frames if you decide to use for more outdoor purpose. i guess u go there let them advise u on the choices :p

Got from previous threads rough price ranges not sure whether still true, and many variants of lens out there for each brand, see till blur. Any expert explain which types to go for each brand, for computer work? I assume should go for single vision instead of progressive since I only need one distance viewing.

Zeiss 1.74 = $560 (prevencia)
Crizal 1.74 = $400 (prevencia)
Nikon 1.74 = $480 (seecoat blue? Soltes Wide?)

That's good idea. Really thankful for all the advise from the the experience bros here.

When I was a kid, it was plastic. Then followed by steel and titanium and combinations.

Now it seems that the fashion has gone 1 cycle but with better quality, technology and updated design.

Is there many versions for zesis photofusion? Is it recommended for the price n how do we know that the lens are authentic besides the cert?

Hi Terence,

I don't believe so. Well if you've always been using zeiss lens, yes I would say it is a good choice. For authenticity, besides the cert, you can look for the brand engraving on the lens. You should be able to see a 'Z' somewhere on the lens. Hope that helps!

thanks seannie and jervin88 for advice... typical cost of Zeiss 1.74 will be what range? want one for intense computer work, any particular type of zeiss i should go for? where can one buy phillip starck acetate, or ic berlin in Singapore?

Sent from GAGT Android App

For yur power, even with 1.74 lenses will be thicker so ICBerlin frames don't really suit u. :( I tried before but gave up even though frame light but add yur lens too thick too heavy.

Yar then go for Zeiss 1.74 SV Superb, with the latest Duravision platinum coating with blue residual reflection to optimize light transmission.

From reviews of forummers here, most popular are Carl Zeiss lens, followed by Hoya, then crizal, then Nikon. Seiko, tokai, AO etc are the least popular choices.

rerear, i think what you looking for is lens to cut off the harmful glare from computer, crizal prevencia coating is targeted at eliminating these harmful glares, Zeiss 1.74 SV Superb, with the latest Duravision platinum coating is just marketed at giving good vision, not targeting computer work.(blue coating would just be a coating colour just like nikon's slight purplish coating colour)

rerear, this is also true that lens will still be thick, probably try ask ur shop to cut thin your lens under special instructions. since its a plastic lens it should still be fine compared to glass lenses.

Starck Eyes, along with alan mikli, have been bought over by Luxottica Group. Their new frames will be made in italy, instead of japan.

Luxottica Group is an Italian eyewear company. It is the world's largest eyewear company, controlling over 80% of the world's major eyewear brands.

Its best known brands are Ray-Ban, Persol and Oakley. It also makes sunglasses and prescription frames for a multitude of designer brands such as Chanel and Prada, whose designs and trademarks are used under license. Luxottica also makes sunglasses branded Giorgio Armani, Burberry, Stella McCartney, Versace, Vogue, Miu Miu, Tory Burch, and Donna Karan.

Recent criticism has come upon the high prices of Luxottica's luxury brand named glasses, such as Ray-Ban, Oakley, and several others. A 2012 60 Minutes segment focused on whether the company's extensive holdings in the industry were used to keep prices high.

Luxottica has always been in control for the years, i guess the only way to change things would be someone like you to start another company big enough of scale to give them a challenge :p hahah. sole distributor's power

Hi DaRkXiDe,

Thanks on your advice. Will look out for te engraving if going for zesis.

Undecided yet btw zesis or crizal.

Any recommendations btw the 2 from all the experts out there? What to consider?

hey terence,
zeiss would definitely be slightly more costly almost x2 or crizal. if you take good care or your lenses you wouldnt need such a pricey lens. of cos zeiss might be slightly better if you really want to compare the quality. price and decency, crizal is a good option to consider. just some advice!! :)

genesis bro i understand he say dun nid cut thin (personal i think no need), but the price im giving you is 1.6 index with transition bro.
* but i still not sure if 1.6index lens power range include your 200+ degree or not. if have then price is about this. but u mention half frame i think maybe u should opt for airwear lens which will cost about 200+. airwear with transition (airwear cfm come in only 1.60index) he say dun cut thin cfm means 1.56 no airwear meaning if frame drop lens very high chance chip or crack.
of cos not every shop give so much discount la(maybe just cos i regular in the shop haha), its rarely you get such discounts. try to ask for best price bro, every shop has its advantages.
