Yes, all my lenses have to be specially made.... Suay loh. My first pair of specs in K2 already hit 100 deg for shortsightedness.

I think price differ alot if you choose different index thickness.

What index you considering? :)

Hmm. Is there a 1.8? I think I usually order lenses somewhere around there. I usually order lenses with index that is one or two levels below the thinnest available.

I also always order glass lenses. Cheaper.

Maybe you are referring to 1.74 Index.. Never seen before 1.80 though.

Normally you would know your lenses are very costly. Therefore what kind of frames you go for?

People always tell me not to get a cheap frame if i have going for a good lenses...:s8:

I have had titanium frames and acetate frames.

Currently I'm on a titanium frame, but recently bought an acetate frame.

I'm now fatter than I used to be, so I have been opting for wider and deeper rectangular frames. The disadvantage here is of course with how the lenses are cut. With wide frames, you get more of the thickness at the edges.

My frames are usually about $200 and above. I look at the construction and the design. I've been to those ownday shops and their frames look very scary. I don't look specifically at the price of frames. I will pick what I like, then decide based on price between those I like.. When you've been wearing specs since K2, you know you can't take them off. :)

Why are you interested in the frames I buy?

There are 1.8s, I think the highest is 1.9.

:s13: Okay! Maybe should check them out...

 I unemployed now. Worst.

Well, if you're actually aiming for Cutler & Gross, I would suppose you have a fair bit of money...

I don't aim for brands very much. I just look see, nice or not. See nice then consider the price.

Your spec frame break or your lenses break? As long as you don't try to fiddle with the frame too much, it won't break. Know from experience. :p though I know ultem specs break easily coz I have one.

Lenses break I dunno how to help you.

Hello.

If I want Crizal lenses, will be how much for the below degree? Thanks.

Sph Cyl Axis Add
-7.25 -3.50 11 0 (R)
-7.75 -2.50 2 0 (L)

Due to astigmatism (cyl) being above -2.00, lenses are RX (special order), RRP for Crizal UV as follows:

1.60 $260.00
1.67 $470.00

Lens Index / Blank Size / Sph / Cyl / Max Compound Power
1.60 / 75 / +8.00 to -12.00 / -6.00 / -12.00
1.67 / 70 / +8.00 to -16.00 / -6.00 / -16.00

Note, RRP quoted, you may get a lower price (or higher price in some shops...).

There are lens materials that do not break easily.

Trivex, Polycarbonate, 1.60 High Index.

Each has it's pros and cons, which a decent shop will explain to you.

Plastic lenses go up to 1.74 generally, with a couple of suppliers going for 1.76.

Glass lenses go up to 1.9.

ultem is actually a pretty durable material, but the design needs to incorporate metal into the joints

By the way, does anyone here read blogs on spectacle frames? So far, I have only found eye stylist.com. And as far as I know, there aren't any bloggers in Singapore that specialised in spectacles.
