Just received my new specs today.

Wore it for about one hour and headache already, quite bad.

Normal for it to occur after changing to new specs? Same degree though.

it can also be done at ngee ann optometric centre @ ngee ann poly

If anyone wants to go to Ngee ann or SP for their eye check my advice is get the optometric staff to do it. otherwise it will be the optometry students doing the checking which takes more than 1/2 to 1 hour.

if the degree is the same, there could be a few reasons:

1)the centration of the lens is not accurate (more likely get symptoms if your degree is high)

2)the curves of the lens is different from your old pair (you may need to get used to this, if not have to change)

3)right and left lens is switched.

4)the angles of the frame is drastically different compared to your old pair.

5) weight of the frame on your nose.

6) the frame is crooked, ie not sitting properly on your face, could cause symptoms if your degree is high.

I would say give it a week and see if you can get used to it. If not return to the shop and get the glasses checked to make sure they are up to specification. Sometimes the lab will get it wrong and it's not the fault of the optician.

I believe the teaching staff there do take patients (they used to do it anyway), just need to pay more for consultation as compared to being check by the students. Maybe they have changed their policy. Just call up and ask if in doubt. Of course they prefer you to get checked by the students as the students need patients to practice on.

A few of the reasons already stated. Compare the both the tilt and curvature of your old spectacles with the new ones. This tends to happen with some of the newer designer glasses that seem to wrap the face more than the traditional glasses. If this is the case, then maybe wearing 1-5 days is enough to assimilate your eyes to the new eyewear. Sometimes, it may not, so the lab needs to compensate both wrap and tilt.

If it bothers you alot, bring it back to the shop and ask them to check against your RX. If they match, ask to re-do the eye test.

Could be something wrong with your RX in terms of PD, cylinder or axis. Labs do get it wrong but very rarely.

These are from Oakley official website customer care FAQ->
How can I tell if my Oakley's are real or not?
Determining if they are real or counterfeit can be difficult, so simply call Oakley Customer Care and send them a picture and they’ll tell you right away if your Oakley’s are the real thing, or visit one of our stores or you’re your local Authorized Oakley Dealer for more information.

What I can say is many branded eyewear are made in big factories in China nowadays. These includes Guess, Ferragamo, Gucci, Oakley, Police to name a few. Normally they will not put "made in china" to protect their brand. Just like apple products, made in china but it's not made known on the package that it's made in china. :s8:

Made by Italian companies Luxottica and/ or Safilo ........ Who probably manufacture in China anyway.
