if you on v tight budget, then try Chew Optics in Bishan...
v decent prices.
lots of students & old folks go there..

I'm staying near bishan, but didn't read your post before I went out to make my specs:s22: :(
but anyway I just made one frame+lens,

the lens cost 130(iirc its 1.56 index, photochromic, and there's this new tech with it where it makes reading less straining on your eyes...they'll mark a spot on the lens while asking u to look left&right.... anyone have any idea what's it called)?:s11:

Mind to include post-lasik complications?

I myself have seen too much of such cases that i gave up on lasik (latest 2011 technology imported from japan).
what cases?? :s11:read that there's many different tech available for it...bladeless/epilasik...etc etc compared to when it first started out

thinking of getting lasik also, but heard u need to wait till your degree stabilize?....so might need to wait a couple more years as my degree still fluctuate even now:s22:

LASIK is invasive procedure that alters the shape of the front surface of the eye.
If it is really that 'good', why are doctors not doing it themselves?
Why some of them still wear glasses?
Generally, everything has pros and cons.
Personally, i feel if you don't wake up feeling like a blind bat every morning , don't go for it.. I feel the cons outweigh the benefits..
my 3 cents...

I had receive a few PM regarding the different between PhotoFusion & Transitions VI.

I did some test using the Transitions Tester hope you find it useful & outdoor UV test(review without picture),

This is how the uncut lens of both in (Gray):

1min 'apporx' inside the Transitions Tester;

After 'apporx' 1min this is how it look like;

[Now you can see that both are in different color base & the transitions VI seem darker (this may due to my tester)]

After 'apporx' 30sec;

After another 'apporx' 1min 30sec

PhotoFusion use about 2min to turn back to fully clear lens. As for Transitions VI it take nearly 4min (this test was with my own spectacles on outdoor test.)

*Do take note that the changes of color would be even faster outdoor when the UV is strong.
*I try both outdoor can't really feel any color different.

*Both are as dark(Outdoor Test)

If you still need more info, feel free to pm me i would try to post more details up.

PART II

How do you tell is PhotoFusion Lens >?

Firstly will be the card of authentic;

xiaokaka, what made you give up on lasik? I'm considering it but am on the fence, mind sharing your thoughts?

Post lasik complications are dry eyes, excessive teary eyes, unable to get 6/6 VA, some patients experience blur vision even tho optometrist checked out that patient already achived 6/6 VA.

I know a few people with very little or no drawbacks from lasik surgery(yet). But imho, i won't go for it.

a little info about my eyes : R -450, L -425.
Current glasses Oakley Wingspan with Carl Zeiss 1.67,
Oakley Chop Top with Essilor Crizal Azio Transistions 1.67

Even i understand at the age of 40 i will need progressive lenses and i need to change the lenses at least once every 2 years till about 65 years old where reading power is stabilized.

The amount of money spent on lenses alone(not including buy new frames even all of these at staff purchase prices) Lasik is more value for money.

Money can save slowly.. But eyes only have 2.

Hi ppl...

Hope that i can obtain some advice here before i head down to make my specs. I have a high power of 9.00. diopters for both R and L eye, astig of ard 1.25.

Thinking of using Carl Zeiss lenses. Anyone can give a rough gague of the prices? For both 1.67 or 1.74 and a good place where i can get them done?

Made a pair of specs recently, cost me close to 400 but the quality is chui, sent back three times and it was still defective. I do not mind spending more, have a budget of 700 max.

Appreciate some advises! Thanks!

RRP for Carl Zeiss 1.67 @ $320. 1.74 @ $560.

These are single Vision lenses. 1.74 is indent order(about 2 weeks).

Thank you for the info. Just to check, the above is for the clarat range of lenses?

Do you know of any places that does zeiss individual or hoya iD (freeform lenses). Heard that the cost is ard 700-900...and it takes a month?

Looking at the lens comparison chart, Zeiss Carat range is lower than Lotu-tec range (which is equivalent to Crizal advance or hoya SFT)

Hey guys, thinking of getting new specs made at Eye Theory at Kallang Leisure Park, any comments about them?

I've always had them done at China Town for decent price I think, but would like to buy from KLP now because it's more convenient when I want to change the rubber thing that rests on the nose. Need to change quite often so I guess pay a little bit more buy at a more convenient place.

My degree about 600 each side, thinking to get very basic full-frame black colored frame no need brand one, what kind of price range should I be looking at, any idea?

Eye Theory had a Groupon deal in the past which I missed, so not sure if I should still do it.
