yES, this marking is the alphabet H which represents the first alphabet of Hoya. You can also see very clearly from the colour of the coating is different from other brands. So no ordinary cheats are able to imitate hoya.

The marking cant be easily seen, and in some lens i suppose it is chopped off during the edging. Like mine, only one side have this mark the other side doesnt have, but in another pair of lenses, both sides have them. Usually should be at the top edge of the lens. Initially i thought it was some manufacturing defect but on closer thought & scrutiny i dont think cos the shape of the marking is so consistent & symmetrical.

how u differeniate the coating?

Collected my 2 pairs of glasses today at Queensway. Decided to get a rimless one and a wooden frame with hoya lens.

frame $100 + lens $180
the shop didn't have many choices for rimless titanium frame. they have rimless frame with screws but it's made of stainless steel. prefer titanium cos i sweat easily but no screws look fragile. In the end, no choice have to choose this pair. It's light weight, same like my old swissflex, can lay down sideway when watching tv. :D Nose pad can be replaced for free.

frame $140 + $180
like this design at first and thought wooden maybe more durable but a bit stiff, not so comfortable when watching tv.

Although got this but i'm still looking for (-) on my lens. Maybe got chopped off. :s11:

I still prefer my old swissflex. Been wearing it for 2 years but the nose pad replacement is overpriced ($18).

I tried the linkskin frame at Nanyang. Very light weight but the staff said it's made of stainless steel. :(

imo get a friend to snap a few pictures of you in position before deciding. even big aviator glasses may not be the solution.

tried those hooks already?

Tried the hooks thingy but my specs are those normal frameless specs so not much use.

I'm looking for those aviator glasses or something like over the brows kind.

how u differeniate the coating?

v easy to differentiate, just compare to normal coating color and you will slowly realise wat i meant. Normal lens even those of nikon has green based coating, but hoya's color shade of green is different from the rest. I dunnoe how to describe to you, but anyway i can tell straight away so if the shop cheated me i will noe. Even if they insist gimme the real hoya or faked the authencity card, i still know they bluffed me. This applies to sft lens, not sure if applies to hvp coating or not. So to be safe everytime i make sure i order sft coating then wont go wrong.

ya, 1.67.

hi square pegs, yur rimless lens look too thick for the frame, are u sure the thin frame can support the weight of the thick lens???

Also, linkskin frame although made of stainless steel but it is damn light, almost feel like wearing nothing throughout the day & v stable on ur face. Im wearing one myself, so i can guarantee that.

I don't think I would wanna risk taking every shot with my eyes closed in snooker. I tried contacts already but I don't really like the idea of it. I don't feel that comfortable and the cost ain't really cheap too considered I have to get 2 pairs since both my eyes are of different degree.

I'll head over to J Optics this weekend and see what the opto recommend.

Someone can advise?
I wanna have polarized sunglass with -4.50, as spend much time on road, wanna reduce the glaring from sun, reflection off other cars.
Was told that polarized only have index 1.5 for single vision, but this would look very thick..
Any suggestion? Thanks!

thanks for the advice! dont think will spend $600 on specs hehe too exp for me. but linkskin looks good! any idea where to get it? or only at Nanyang?

u will only be wasting more of your $ if you get too cheap a frame that is lower in quality. Its wiser to invest in a better pair of frame that can last you longer ultimately.

Linkskin has the widest variety becos they are the one who designs & manufacturer after that sell them & markets them to other places. You go other places, its still nanyang who supplies them.

But for a price of $150, i think it will serve your purpose very well alry. Cant gaurantee the quality to last many years but at least comfort is guaranteed.
