u will only be wasting more of your $ if you get too cheap a frame that is lower in quality. Its wiser to invest in a better pair of frame that can last you longer ultimately.

Linkskin has the widest variety becos they are the one who designs & manufacturer after that sell them & markets them to other places. You go other places, its still nanyang who supplies them.

But for a price of $150, i think it will serve your purpose very well alry. Cant gaurantee the quality to last many years but at least comfort is guaranteed.
thanks! i'll check it out tmr!

I don't think I would wanna risk taking every shot with my eyes closed in snooker. I tried contacts already but I don't really like the idea of it. I don't feel that comfortable and the cost ain't really cheap too considered I have to get 2 pairs since both my eyes are of different degree.

I'll head over to J Optics this weekend and see what the opto recommend.

aiyo i mean once placement is done you dont need to see that sharply anymore. at your power, you have no issue seeing the cue tip and ball lar. this is from my experience with shooting sports lar but i dont think cue sports is too far off.

another thing is edge of glasses have distortion. might end up getting parallex problems. more jialat on big big lens.

I would most probably be getting the L size frame of Rayban aviators and just replace the lens with clear ones. I tried with M size ones and it wasn't really an issue but getting the L size frame and lens to play safe.

If it hits above $200 then i won't be getting them.

Someone can advise?
I wanna have polarized sunglass with -4.50, as spend much time on road, wanna reduce the glaring from sun, reflection off other cars.
Was told that polarized only have index 1.5 for single vision, but this would look very thick..
Any suggestion? Thanks!

Recommend Tokai 1.6 Polarized with Anti-Reflection.

Optional colour in Brown, Grey or G-15.

Optional Mirror Coating.

Thanks bro!
So can I say that 1.6 is the current can offer, there is no 1.67 or more? Thanks!

IIRC there's no 1.67 for sunglass (tinted lens) as higher index will cause colour finishing not as beautiful and even.

If u google a cross section image of a prescription lens, u will notice the thickness of centre is about 1 to 1.5mm and Side thickness depends on your prescription. Base on this fact, its alot more difficult to get a solid and darker shade of colour for higher indexs.. (same as what the labs told me..)

Usually when I make spectacles, I only ask for normal multicoat and normal lens.

My degree is SPH-2.25 CYL-1.25

Is there anything that can make the lens weigh lighter?

Does normal multicoat includes UV protection?

Thanks

the only way to make ur lens really lighter is to select a small frame so that the lens will also become smaller thinner so >> lighter.

Just like me again made a mistake made a IC!Berlin frame that is larger than normal, wehen the lens come thicker and much heavier than my other frames that are smaller in size. So my lesson learnt in this yet another costly stupid mistake is that never make a big lens if you are sensitive to weight!

This is esp true if your power is higher. I hope people like me will not have to go through the hard way like me to learn the lesson. :(

Anti-Reflection does not mean UV coating.

Some brands of lenses comes with UV accross the board.. some only comes in certain range.

Certain brands weighs slightly more.. certain materials weights slightly less. General rule is : Yes, smaller lens shape = lighter weight. It can be further controlled by choosing the right type of lens.

change to 1.67 or thinner lens ofcos will have difference lar, becos higher index means thimmer lens, so in turn lighter in weight. Different brands actually i dont think will have much difference, most most important is the SIZE of your frame. Like me made a linkskin frame few mths ago, very lightweight cos i select a mre elongated shape so not that big in size so thinner lens less weight. Then i made an IC!Berlin last week and i selected a mre squarisn & bigger rame size, in the end oh my gosh, the lens thicker & heavier. I mean IC!Berlin frame is very light, so by comparison of both specs, the problem could not be the frame, so it has to the lens. And both are compared using same type of material & index, which is HOYA 1.67 double AS plastic lens. So as you can see, it is very clear that the frame size plays a very big part in determining the overall weight of your specs. Please dont make same mistake as me again!

When choosing a spec, it is very important to:-

1. Select a frame that is not too big.
2. The frame should be light but not flimsy
3. The temples should be curved so that they do not touch on the sides of your head and only grip at the back of your head behind your ears.
3. The temple arms (and not the frame front) should be flexible enough to allow for bending to fit the shape of our head but should still have enough stability to ensure a good grip. (An example of the frame being too flexible without enough grip is IC!Berlin)
4. The nosepads should be designed to fit our asian nose structure. They should not be spaced too far apart. Opticians always tell you that these can be adjusted but seriously, if the nosepads are initially designed to be that far apart, how much closer can they adjust & pull them together? It is just technically impossible to adjust to a good fit. It MUST be incorporated in the initial design.

If frames do not have the above points, they will very likely to be uncomfortable and constantly slipping down your nose.

When I am out of the house, I did not bring along the spectacle cloth.

When accidentally touch the lens or see some stains on my lens, what can I do to remove it?

If use tissue paper to wipe, will it scratch the lens? Or use t shirt?

Have some questions:

How much does the Swissflex Light (Straight / Style temple) with Hoya Remark Lens 1.6/1.67 index + SFT Coating cost?

What about with standard Hoya 1.6/1.67 index + SFT coating?

Hoya Remark lens is for reducing fatigue during near distance work right? Will I notice any difference when looking at things from far? (reduced clarity, distortion, etc)

And how much of a difference (in terms of thinness and weight) will a high index lens make if I have relatively low degree? (~150)

How does the Hoya SFT coating compare to Critzal Advance?

Also noticed there are some people here working in spectacles shop, can PM me a photo of the Swissflex Light (Straight / Style temple) if you have them(couldn't find any actual photos in google), along with location of your shop?
Thanks :)

I bought a L size aviator and made it into a normal set of spectacles. When the optician was bending the back for me, he seemed rather afraid to bend it all the way because it was really too loose for me.

I just tell him, " bro, just gan gan bend. Its really too loose for me. My size M aviator also let your colleague just gan gan bend only ".
