If every other shop has the authenticity card but they don't then something is not right somewhere. insist on having the card , if not call essilor asked them if indeed there is no authenticity card.

From industry insiders, Stan isaacs uses cheap lenses but sell them at exhorbitant price. Can't blame them, they want to make money too.

As long as they sit properly on your face, don't have to worry about the slight unbalanced when you place them on the table.

This is disturbing, if true. Wouldnt reputational risk be a deterrent? How do we, as consumers, ever know if we are getting what we are paying for? I will call Essilor Singapore tomorrow and ask around a few optical shops also.

Thanks 2pm2am.

All Parasite frames are made of a special stainless metal alloy called Steelskin. Here are some advantages
of the Steelskin material:
Solid (even if it is very thin, the frame is resistant), lightweight (comfort), supple (one can easily adjust the frame), anallergic, and completely recyclable.
Parasite uses a chemical process called Metalysis, to make its frames. Metalysis method offers a great precision (works on 0.7mm thin metal)

Hi guys, how do I choose my lens?
I stare at a computer at work the whole day and really do not wish to make my eyes worse.

What kinda things do I need to look out for when making lens?

Do you guys recommend getting frames elsewhere and then making lens at a good optical shop?

Hi xiaokaka,

i just got my Zeiss lens today. The only authenticity card they gave was a one with the Carl Zeiss Vision and Transitions logo on it. Different from what the other members posted earlier.

The fine print in the card states ZEISS, AO ans Sola are brands of Carl Zeiss Vision. The cleaning cloth that i got, has the logo of SOLA and Teflon easy car lens coating wording.

The shop claim that there is no carl zeiss laser mark can be seen after the shaping because mine is a transition.

Can you advise how i can verify that this is indeed a true ZEISS and not the cheaper SOLA or AO brand?

thank you

If you got a Zeiss lens, this is what you should get. A lens cloth with Zeiss logo, not the sola/AO teflon lens cloth.

Most of the time they will make sure the Z mark is visible after they cut the lens. If there is no Z mark, insist on getting a authenticity card with your name and prescription on it. :)

Not sure if you have been deliberately cheated.

Some optical shops will tell their customers that they will give them lenses from Carl Zeiss (the company) and the customer will think they are getting Zeiss lenses. This is fine as long as they don't charge Zeiss prices but give other type of lenses. this is cheating and you can report them to CASE if they don't rectify the situation.

For custom made Zeiss lenses , i believe they will engrave the Z logo after they cut the lenses so that it can be seen by the consumer.

Are Tokai lenses better than Crizals?

It's almost twice the price, but the optician says its one of the top 3 lenses in Japan and has much better quality. However their website is ****ty and doesn't have much information.

I'm not sure what to feel about my purchase. I was set on getting Crizals but my optician convinced me otherwise.

I got the Tokai 1.7 Aspherical with SPS coating. Wondering if this is a good buy..

Just got my lens from Pearl's Optical at JP. Made a Hoya HL Phoenix 1.53 which cost $180 and used back my existing frame. No card on the lenses is being provided, however on both the lenses, I can see the symbol (-)

I believe the coating on the Hoya HL Phoenix 1.53 is not SFT right?

For my lenses, Right side is SPH: -1.25, Cyl: -2.00. Left side is SPH -1.25, Cyl -1.00.

Hey, may I ask how much is an average pair of ic berlin glasses? Is there rimless ones too, scanned through your fb photos and mostly are full or half rim.

Also, can I have a quote for ic berlin frame including normal lenses?
