gratz on your new pair... but your degree look quite high too :s13:

What is the brand of the frame???

Brand..?
Er, i don't know. :s11:

Nice geeky frame.. is it your degree is high that's why you didnt see properly to decide on this frame? Sometimes geeky spec's len shape too round, end up look abit plump on the face.. :s22:

Sucks not being able to check thoroughly if it looked good on oneself before buying. :(

You can find out the brand on the side of the leg of the frame, usually it is at there. You didnt try the spectacle being making your lens into it?

Usually Transition lens with degree around 550, even with the high index, the lens actually still thick right? i remember that Transition cannot make with high degree.. not sure about this..

I would not recommend transitions or any photochromatic lens no matter your RX. But then again, that is a personal choice that some people find it convenient.

"Part-timer" as in I seldom wear specs and not really familiar about the details about spec...but should be more frequent now...

I just made a new pair of glasses at Kwong Shin Bras Basah.
They quoted me $200 for a pair of Hoya 1.67.
Yours seems like a better deal.

Anyone knows how we can tell the authenticity of Hoya lens?

Switching to Hoya for the first time. Hope they are just as good or even better than Nikon and Essilor.

Oo I see, but I heard the service there is nice =)

Anyway, I'm thinking of going to JB (Jusco and City Sq) this weekend. Read the thread a few pages back about oakleys being cheaper there and having 1 year international warranty? Means I can bring to larrikin in SG to service it ar? Do I need to pay? Btw, which shop was it in Jusco?

Lastly, I hope to get some lens recommendation. My last pair was horrible. The side curved so much until it gets giddy after a while. Making 1.67 one (degree 500-600) so hopefully it's value for money and yet light. Any preferences? Seiko, hoya, essilor, nikon? Which is cheap and good hehe? =:p

The eyewear industry in Singapore... have prices that are extremely far apart...

I believe the original price for lens is very cheap and is marked up by stores for earning and survival.... especially stores with lots of workers and in areas with high rental.

eg. 1.67 lens.. I can get it under $100 and I also can get it above $300...
different store different price... and the difference can be more than $200!

For lens brand I think its safer to stick to those that you have tried and feel that it is good for u... because it is very personal.
e.g. Some opticians advice going against certain brand but I tried that brand before and it works well for me. Some opticians recommended some good brand but turned out that I throw away that spec...
it's the same for almost every other thing besides eyewear... its always safer to continue with brands that you tried and find it good.
