hi guys,

any good optometrist / optical shop to reco ?

need to move away from my usual guy after, 20~ years. west / north SG pls.

also any comments on 'optical##' shops, saw some nice house brand frames there

thanks

What usual guy? An optometrist that does the right stuff will be a good optometrist. Apparently, the whole of Singapore, there isn't many around.

Some advice needed

Hi all,
I did a pair of specs 1 month back, quite happy with it, however the shop did not give me a written prescription.
Later on I asked for it, but still the boss is unwilling to provide a copy of my prescription.:s27:
I heard that in some countries by law the optometrist have to provide a copy of prescription when requested; I wonder if it's true. Anyone had similar bad experiences before?

In any case if he is still unwilling to provide my prescription, i will take the current pair and ask another shop to duplicate(i need a backup pair anyway). But i am unsure if the new pair of specs will be as accurate? There seems to be some information i read that claimed that there is some room for error when you do this. How true is that? Anyone? Thanks.

Nah. There is no such law for that. It is only true that optometrist must do a full eye (not just eye power aka prescription) check for every new patient in their practice. When needed provide them with a report for further medical treatment. Of cos this is a professional service and is not free. Those test that u get free at optical shops are just normal prescription checks and the optometrists would not be complying with the laws if they do that. Only opticians are not required by the law to do a full eye check because they are not medically trained and not licensed to do that.

Of cos there is error for that. Machines are calibrated differently. The reading they read may not be entirely the same. But would be similar. Similar to doing a eye test a second time, there would still be a margin or error because of human error. 1st test may not be same as 2nd test even if dine consecutively.

Quit spamming. Wrong section.

I don't see how that was a spam and how this is the wrong section.

Just trying to ask if anyone wanted to start a MO for spectacles in this thread called 'The Spectacle Thread' . :s8:

Correct me if i'm wrong, but clearly the means was justified. ;)
