I don't see how that was a spam and how this is the wrong section.

Just trying to ask if anyone wanted to start a MO for spectacles in this thread called 'The Spectacle Thread' . :s8:

Correct me if i'm wrong, but clearly the means was justified. ;)

This ain't a bazaar. Go to the bazaar thread and make a poll on interested parties. You'll get more luck.

I opted for SwissFlex instead. Cheaper than tag but still expensive nevertheless. Light and all plastic with detachable parts :D

Quite good so far though no complaints thusfar with it

hi guys,

been planning to get a new pair of specs coming day or 2.

Have been using those as cheap lens as possible for the past 20 years. Thinking of changing to some nice lens for the up coming one. Been reading up a bit and i think prolly going for a nikon 1.67 with seecoat. Both eyes should be less than 500degrees and asti less than 200. How much will it roughly cost? Dun wanna blur blur go in and be carrot head.

Also. what are the neccessary measurement for the opto guy to take in order to make a proper judgment/recommendation for the lens?

Thanks alot for the help in advance.

Lol. Rrp of that lens. The last time i saw was 560 iirc. Lol

The optom must check your eye health first as a basis of all optometric tests. To make sure that blur vision is not caused by any other factors than only just the need for glasses. This service is not free though.

Woots!!560:eek::eek:
Cant imagine the price of the See lens if the Lite lens already 560.

And i was hoping it will be less than 300...........

Ermm, regarding the eyecheck. What i wanted to ask was-----i remember long time ago the neighbourhood shop only do one check with a machine. Then go inside a room with the usual Chart-test. Last time i went to another bigger shop got do many more test. So was wondering why the difference and whether the neighbourhood shop tests are adequate.

Thanks again for the info. Helps alot

I'm telling u the price of see coat ma.

Full eye check is not only checking eye power. It's knowing your medical history, family medical history, your front eye health, posterior eye health (retina), eye pressure, your visual function (done on indication) aka visual field, binocular vision etc.

Basically to summarise is your well being and health of the WHOLE EYE and it's surroundings aka eye lid eye lash etc.

You reserve the right to sue the optometrist if you go blind because of him not picking up any eye conditions *touchwood*

Thanks alot for the advice. Decided to went for the bigger shop(compared to neighbourhood ones). Did some test and found i have some weird problems with my eye. Seems like i was born with some deficiencies and was recommended a progressive lens by the opto. Progressive not for the 老花眼, but something else, cant remember the exact name but opto lady did explain what it is. She did ask about family's history and do some further test to eliminate some worries.

Was initially quoted a low 200+ for CZ 1.6 but since needed a progressive, boh bian change to a hoya. Total damage = $450(after very hard bargaining) for a Hoya progressive and non-branded titanium frame.

Did she say u have poor accommodation? Something about the eye muscles not functioning properly? Do you encounter problems when reading? If not I don't see the need of progressive lenses unless it's a muscle problem. Cos progressive requires you to change your habits when reading like looking downwards instead of tilting your head to the material.

yeah, she did say something about the muscle not functioning properly. Also something about the eyeball out of position and pointing inwards--cant really understand the terms she used. I remember looking at an arrow through a jig with a divder in-between. Did told me that i need to change habits, like walking down the stairs etc.

Probably she meant convergence excess. I think. U can do some eye training aka physiotherapy if progressive don't work for u. Though may not have high success.

where is the place with the largest selections of spectacles? I need to make a new pair soon. Budget wise around 500-600 inclusive lens.

Cant really remember the exact term.=:p=:p=:p Now kinda excited to try a pair of "老花眼“。 lol. Although i must admit i am a bit worrid if i cant get used to it. So what will happen if i cant get used to it ar? Go back to a single vision ar? And do ppl normally have 2 pairs of glasses?(one single vision, one progressive)

the next course of action would be switching back to single vision lo. and to try vision theraphy if the near problem really bothers you.
