Woh, what's the story? Tell us about it. I've always like dealing with them ....

went to kwong shin on monday and was served by a slightly plump auntie with a pretty short hair.

wanted to make contact lens at first and was told to wait a while for the optometrist. waited for 10min(can't blame them, busy day), then proceeded to take the eye test and i bought my 2 set of contact lens with 1 pair of free. found the shop alright and decided to ask around for a spectacles coz my spectacles are 350 while my eyesight is 450.

and this is when they totally spoilt my afternoon.

decided to try a pair of spectacles by NOVA which is $500 and after trying, i told the same auntie that my budget is 350. she took out her calculator, calculated the price of the cheapest frame and the over-priced specs, and in a very arrogant tone, said "this price. how?". the voice is fked up to say the least and extremely belittling.

i replied "over-budget lor.." and she calculated again, as if she might have miscalculated and said "how?". then i said, overbudget and i asked for similar designs and she said there was none of them available.

determined to get a new spectacles, she recommended oaklay next and i said alright. she allowed me to try a few spectacles and suddenly there was another customer requesting her to write an invoice or something.

i felt alright she attending the other customer immediately, and i went on to try the oaklay spectacles she laid out for me. fell in love with one of the spectacles and i then asked her whether if the frame can be changed, and she dismissed my question and asked me to wait a while.

waiting like a lame duck for 8 min but she was still pre-occupied so i just walked out of the shop.

felt that my whole afternoon is ruined after wasting 1h in there. i went at ard 3pm, and though it was kind of crowded back there, it should not be an excuse for such belittlement and giving sub-standard service to any potential customer.

the prices of the stuff isnt particularly cheap too as they didnt have discount then when most other optical shops are having discounts.

now i wonder why people recommend kwong shin when their prices arent that competitive and their service standard is downright bad.

Bring it back and tell the staff your problem. Should be fine after some adjustment. But, depends on the person who adjust your spec. One who lacks experience may not do a good job.

In my humble opinion, yours could be just an isolated unpleasant experience. This shops has lots of regular customers. I have been buying my spectacles from Kwong Shin since 1988. The shop can be very crowded and staff are very busy. So, sometimes we may not get the attention which we expect.

100% of all businesses cannot please 100% of the customers all the time.

It is true that sometimes they are very busy and then out of predatory business instinct, the staff will prefer to deal with or serve someone who can give them the best return for their time, i.e. those who are regulars, those who can afford to spend, those who look like they know what they want instead of browsing. Sad but true.

No loss, you can try some other places, Kwong Shin prices are no longer as good as they used to be anyway because of their popularity.

I feel for you, Kelthalas1. sh*ts happen sometimes ..... But Kwong Shin has, in my opinion, a pretty good selection of good frames. Thing is, do you know them, and willing to spend?

As a consumer, please, know what you want/need/desire, and find out what you're paying for, as best as you can. SAs won't know everything, not to mention their frequently poor product knowledge, so, do our part and specify our requirements. Communicate with the SA, and hopefully, you will become a regular.

I am definitely one of her newer customers, but Annie (I think) already know what's my cup of tea. On my latest quest, she helped me secure a sample for a frame I was asking, to try out in person. 2 samples (colours) came. It is an expensive frame, so, purely coincidental, everybody chip in to offer their opinion. I was unanimously beaten 4-1, but to this point, was still under no pressure to buy. I placed an order, in the end, and it will take 2 months to arrive. But I haven't pay yet.

I can't say they are bad ....

I agree. Communication is important - for example: what is our budget ? What type of frame would we want - e.g. light weight, trendy, black color frame, plastic frame or any specific brand, thickness of lens.

Once the SA knows us well, she/he will be able to provide good service and recommend frames base on our requirements.

Can anyone recommend optical shop that sells a larger range of tag heuer frames. I went to Capitol at Compasspoint and it was quite limited. Good pricing will be a plus point:)

Take it with a pinch of salt. After all, marketing plays a big part, imo ....

Yeah, when they use the words "dramatisation" or "for illustrative purpose", it means don't get your expectations to high. Too many jokers seem to take it at face value, some even complain of scratches on their crizal lens and quote the ad, saying the sand at the playground doesn't scratch it.

Just be realistic, every lens scratches when improperly handled. Also, it doesn't perform exactly like what they say in the ad, but they are an improvement over the regular lenses.

tag frames are generally controlled pricing ...but i read some postings that u might be able to get cheaper pricing at certain shops.....

else most shops will try to give u a better discount on the lens...then again...how much discount can you get from lens?

i m smitten by the new tag frame available..
