just collected my pair of DKNY 1/2 frame metallic bronze from Eyesmate (JB)

20-30% cheaper than SG in terms of frame price, standard crizal non transition non airwear 125 125 degree @ 130 Ringgit, about 50sgd +?

Let me know if you guys are interested in any model I might be able to recommend for a better price, store manager is a personal friend of mine =)

Jb eyesmate workmanship is not tat good if they are edging the lens in-house, unless you make sure tat they send to the professional labs to do for you. Else not worth the hassle to go there & end up with a lens tat pop out of the frame. Just sharing my experience. No offence meant.

Hi..
I am not sure if someone has ask this before; if yes. could you please direct me the link...thanks.

How do you know if the branded lens you bought e.g from Hoya, Crizal, etc are from them?

Will you get a Cert. specifying the Len brand, design, material and coating and also the warranty period?

Is Hoya really having a better coating than Crizal as quoted by the Optician or it is just sales talk?
FYI, Hoya quoted is 10-20% more than Crizal, was told they are both offer similar coating but Hoya coating is better which is why more expensive.
True?

Nobody really did sent both brands of coating for benchmark or lab runs. But my personal preferance is Hoya even if it's 5-20% more expensive.

Just to share the extra info, i made my family a few pair of glasses.

Me : Crizal Azio Transistions 1.67, Carl Zeiss 1.67.
My dad : Hoya HL 1.6 for reading (2 pairs)
Brother : Nikon Seecoat 1.67, Sola 1.5 Polarized
Sister : Hoya HL 1.67
Gf : Carl Zeiss 1.67

so when i say, i personally dont prefer crizal, try to put urself in my shoes. =)

Not very sure about crizal basic and easy. but crizal advance 1.5 is $110. 1.56 @ $130

$60 is too good to be true, unless u know the boss well.

I got a Hugo boss frames from $350 discounted to about $280.. And I got myself a crizal advanced lens..
My question is , how do we know it's really the Advanced lens? other than the authenticity card given. Cheers!

Crizal (Essilor) vs Hoya - France vs Japan. Who will emerge the winner? Carl Zeiss is from germany. Nikon & seiko are from japan too.
AO has been acquired by carl zeiss and nikon acquired by Essilor. Seiko is also gg soon?
Wonders which is next?

Both have labs in sg. One is more well-known than the other by advertisements. Hoya in japan is actually not tat well-known. My friend works in essilor lab in sg and he tells me hoya lens is likely to be more premium than essilor.

With sg inflation at 5%, i wonder when will the price of lenses be going up. Im not sure whether i can even afford hoya lens in my old age.

That price ok la.. iirc $180 for Spherical design.. so $200 should be the Asphercial design.

Depends on frame, sometimes Spherical designs turns out to be thicker, BUT better to compliment the frame [proven to my eyes a few times, latest is a pair of Tag Heuer Trends rimless i dispensed to 1 of my customer]

Thanks, Xiaokaka.

Would there be a cert issued if I get the HVP lens? I know SFT will issue one but not sure if HVP will be the same or not.

Thanks again!

Hi xiaokaka,

Many thanks for your reply.

On the first part of my post.
How do we verified that the branded lens we purchase is correct, such as the design, material, coating.

I have read from other postings that most reputable optician will not "risk". It maybe true in Singapore but what if we were to purchase the spectacles from overseas or online, how do we know if the pair of spectacles we collected are what we have ordered and paid for?

actually very very hard to tell, i once asked my seniots about this question and apart from carl zeiss laser mark and crizal mark.. almost all single vision lens, all are almost impossible to tell. new lenses maybe can guess tru coating colour. but guess only.

If u looking for 999.9, u can visit Shinagawa Optical at Wheelock place (beside ION, Orchard). They also have Japonism.

Places like Vivocity, Great world city and suntec big outlets will carry Japonisim. Some even have Spivvy.

The comfort wise, u have to try to feel the difference.. and u can also try google-ing it if u are so interested?

i am aslo in the process to upgrade my more than 10yrs old DKNY

i like tag spec is damm comfort but abit too big for me
any smaller similar to tag comfort design ah?

this 999.9 and Japonism frrames is it small and thin?

or any small frame and light offcourse brands to recommends?
