Actually so far so good, just got my specs today.

1 lens got halographic crizal, the other don't have. Yep yep. so far so good, like it alot.

Any brand of sunglasses to recommend. Bought Oakley 7 years ago, now the lens coating start to flake. also now it's like $400 and above per pair! Waste of money IMO. Ray ban doesn't suit my face...any Oakley type glasses to recommend?

I think I'm about to contradict myself. I handled the Oakley Juliet and it feels really premium quality with the titanium frame. juliets have been in the market for over a decade and im confident i'll be able to get replacement lenses in the future, unlike my 2005 Wiretap which is discontinued. I'm almost going to make the leap to get them from an online store (retail stores are cut throat, if you compare with the Oakley store).

Anyone got comments to deter me or forever hold your peace? Lol......

Have read almost all 400+ pages of comments...

My degree is 350/150, 400/200. Was advised by sales person to go for 1.6 index for thinner lenses. I'm making a plastic frame actually, so in my opinon, 1.5 or 1.56 index should be ok, but trusted professional advices on 1.6 index.
I'm making a pair of transitions lenses.

1) Is Hoya transitions lenses ($350) or Crizal transitions lenses ($350) better?

2) What are the differences between Hoya SFT coating and HVP coating? Are they great differences?

3) Was recommended by the sales person for pricing wise to go for BBGR transitions lenses ($250), much cheaper a lot. Anyone heard of this brand before? Is it good or recommended? bbgr.com/en-us/Pages/default

2) Hoya claims SFT is the premium coating for their lenses. But according to their pricelist, mostly single vision lenses are offered HVP coatings. the few SFT coating of Bi-Asp designs makes me wonder if thats worth the price.

3) Never heard of BBGR, up to u if u willing to sac quality for $. i will still recommend Hoya. If $450 is still acceptable for u, get Carl Zeiss Photo Fusion 1.6

Hi, I am looking to get a lens with an index of 1·67 for a frame with a base curve of 7 for single vision. However, I am having difficulty finding a reliable answer from several opticians that I have visited as to what product I should choose such that I will have no peripheral distortions. Apparently, everyone else’s product is either fake or won’t work except the current one that I am being shown at any given optical store.

From what I could gather from Nikon’s online materials, SeeStyle is only available for specific base curves of 3, 5, an 8, making it unsuitable for my frame. SeeMax talks a lot about using a double-aspheric design to make as flat a curve as possible, which again is contrary to what I am looking for. However, there are various opticians for each that vehemently insist that only it can be made to fit my glasses without distortions. Aren’t there any digital, free-form lens designs that can accommodate an arbitrary base curve and offer a coating to reduce blue light in the likes of SeeCoat Blue?

Most Lens companies makes base curve of 3,5,6 or 8. if your frame is a base curve 7, a BC 8 will fit(rmb to include the side thickness of the lens which has your prescription of *minus power* , it will be a slightly different story if u have *plus power*)


If Nikon's SeeStyle is not good for u, try Tokai.

If even Tokai not able to make u happy, i suppose there aren't any more labs can do it out there.

when i made my crizal adv lens for my specs one side also dont have the words the shop say got suppose to have both side they sent it back to supplier to redo... hope yours is normal

Heard crizal adv and basic range will still gave the words.. So then how to differentiate adv and basic?

1.67 is way better. just to share with you, my prescription is -450 and i'm using 1.67.

Thickness of the lens in the end comes down to frame's lens shape, size, prescription, astig. angle of astig, your pupil distance and frame pupil distance.

In short, 1.67 looks alot better than 1.6 range.

1) RRP is $450. You think u got a good deal ?

2) I find that Lotutec coating can be compared to Hoya and Nikon SeeCoat. they have a more premium feel. but that's just my opinion.

3) Photofusion is not really better or worse den Transistion. It's still self tinting lens just that its made by Zeiss. and Zeiss claims that it is 30% faster than transistions. Now for zeiss lenses, they are selling photofusion cheaper den transistions so why not get photofusion? don't u agree?

is it true that when optical shops get the spectacle frames from the suppliers, they will need to pay up within the credit term of one month? let's say for those frames that are slow-moving, can the optical shops still return back to the supplier or die-die they have to display till they are sold off?

Oakley prescription frames is good only thing is the paint peel off damed easily... i am not going to buy any oakley frame unless they do somthing about it.... btw a question for oakley titanium frame users... the paint peel off easily also??
