was trying my luck la....even bifocal is not tat common too

bifocals are actually quite common, among the elderly.

most could not get used to progressives, and don't use computers don't care about aesthetics (there's a blended type if they care)
as an option for those who drag their feet before getting glasses for presbyopia, bifocals are a much safer choice since the line is very visible making it easier for the elderly to adapt.

most of the time when you go to the local opticians the optiions given would be progressives, (more indices to choose from, more common, easier to sell, better profit.)
but if you were to encounter older opticians especially those with their own practices and er..think that the customer may not be able to adapt, you'll often get the suggestion that you try out bifocals, then move on to progressives.
others ask you to try reading glasses first , then bifocals then progressives. or reading then progressives.

personally , if you haven't worn glasses by 60, and you have that slow mo thing going on with old folks. best not to fit progressives on the first try.
either 2 pairs to switch or bifocals. and if you feel adventurous after 6 mths and all goes well, then maybe progressives.

older folks don't adapt well to new stuff(if you don't get a good pair of progressives, they generally restrict your field of vision, for both near and far. which is why bifocals still have their hardcore fans)

will probably take another 20-30 years for the current generation to move on before bifocals die out.
but some labs like essilor actually sell bfocals as children's myopia control lenses and asserts it works better then their progressive like design.

how come you're not typing in broken english lol.... any engineers I knew were.... totally broken like that pap mp

I just used to study engrg but didn't eventually ventured into that. I'm better in languages and I'm a flop in technical drawings so it didn't work out for me. I chose the wrong course totally disastrous misfit.

best to do it slowly. and it helps if you're younger and more adaptive

and you need to have a rough idea of how progressives work plus why they work that way.

wtf?!??!? why????!??!?!?!?!?!?!!!?!?!?!
if you don't want them can I experiment with them? I think I'm somewhat semi proficient with adjustment.

but when a guy I used to know worked there(move on to his own marketing company) he apparenly introduced tag heuer as somewhat like a house brand of paris miki. that' 5-6 years back?

went taka yesterday, they were still having a lot of conservative jap titanium frames frames? matsuda?
there's lindberg? but you don't like european stuff.

Becos ic!berlin kind of frames are those that either fit u or they don't. Adjustments dont help a lot and will change the original shape. I think intro of tagheuer is a mistake. A lot shops don like to take tagheuer nowadays too. Maybe taka was their flagship store so they had bit more jap frames but when I browse their bugis store, I saw mostly the same brand of specs I see in normal shops so nothing too special, a lot of those Armani, boss, etc. Lindberg is minimalist look somewhat similar to silhuoette don't really make too much of a statement. To me I always feel that guys better not wear too much rimless lest take away masculine character. Matsuda still popular nowadays? I tot that was many years ago brand.

eh.... if it's just fitting I think I can help? it took me a few times close to a week but I managed to stop the glasses from slipping. and you can't tell when they're on the face? come on let me have a try?

I was telling an airport guy, you have to open up the legs, if you don't they won't fit. besides in terms of looks opening up the legs or not won't make much of a diff if you don't overdo it.

I'm a minimalist I guess? after "murderous rapist" I don't do full frames anymore. it makes me look more decent for my job(or people started asking if I'm PRC)

I think the taka outlet is more on the luxurious side? so they carry a more traditional japanese titanium frames plus stuff like rodenstock or was it dunhill that I saw?

I think your taste isn't mainsteam. so if you're looking at the general outlets, they tend to carry stuff that sells well. namely safilo stuff (armani/gucci/boss) besides that they need to sign a contract to carry certain brands and if you want gucci you'll need to take other stuff as well.

same goes for luxotica stuff. want rayban? be prepared to order stock blonging to 3 other brands.

if your taste is in brands like tag heuer, mikli, theo, silhoutte namely anything that stands out and retail above $500 it's not going to be common.

So I got the feeling I should just avoid shinagawa.

That means not too many options left for me other than my optician.

erm like I said it's not work related. nor related to his investors. I still have to say I've nothing bad to say, just nothing good either due to something that irks me and really it's very personal but I tend to deal poorly with personal issues. but really , nothing related to their professionalism.

never been there myself but maybe due to the enviroment you may not be able to enjoy services or good attitude if you do not belong to their client base.
my customer tried to get help once at SEC and received poor attitude.(money related) But I think it's common enough to be expected anywhere

example years back when my pants were torn once in the worse possible place, backside to crotch nearly splitting my pants into half. and I tried to buy something at taka since I work in ngee ann city. I was introduced to a pair of $200 pants. being a poor young man, there's no way I can bring myself to justify that purchase but understanding this is orchard road so I asked if there's anything cheaper? maybe at least around $100? $100++
to that the salesman promptly did a Keblakang pu~~~seng! and served the korean lady behind him.

it's a personal issue. partly due to treatment of certain parties and partly due to religion(I'm a free thinker btw)

but eh.... I think incidents like these(pants incident) tend to make me wary of gay people.lol irrational yes but it kept happening to me in ngee ann city. kenna another time in imperial treasure with a gay supervisor. my own friend who's gay who's also my supplier screwed me up as well when he delivered my stock somewhere else. I'm unlucky with gays?

but besides the point, capitol herself don't seem to have much japanese titanium frames. if shinagawa have them why not pay them a visit?
you need to try everything anyway.

I inquired at Paris Miki for the Hoya 1.6 and 1.67, both with only VP coating available and not SFT. Decided to go with the 1.7 SFT instead since there's a 20% end year promo. :D

Just hoot a Urband + Hoya Nulux 1.6 at $438

In SG only nanyang optical carries urband, the rest of shops v rare. Urband after discount, if not the horn edition, will cost $280. So your lens estimated cost $160.

Anyone knows how much to top up for HVP to SFT coating? Coz they only offered me the usual HVP coating and cited $450 for SFT coating

So are you trying to imply that shinagawa being at orchard area most likely unable to provide the best services and attitudes unless we belong to tourists?

The only ever reason that I mentioned shinagawa is becos I'm attracted to the Japanese concept and not becos it's linked to Capitol. Personally I don't quite fancy Capitol itself. Their frames are so-so only, brands like Oakley, silhoette etc nothing special as well.

Shinagawa may have a more extensive range of jap top designer brands, although my optician also carries some but not too many becos like what you said you can't carry too many of one thing else if your things can't sell you are stuck. Thus most shops will still carry some popular ones like Oakley, Armani, rayban which are definitely sellable with the public.

I think I just have to wait till my optician brings in more or asks them whether they can try to bring in some of the frames which shinagawa have. At least I get to try out the frames at the optician whom I trust with, comfortable with along with their premium service.

opening in orchard means they cater to the more up and up customers. and service come with a price. nobody likes to work for free .
they do expect you to be a bit more well off over there for top notch services. like you know when I encountered the $200 pants .

but eh that's not the reason. I've met the current bosses personally and kinda prefer the old boss. that's all.

if you don't encounter the wrong staff, capitol's main draw would be the service. they tend to take complains seriously. plus easier to order specific items . well at least the old bosses made it easy
