Frame looks very much like Philippe Starck by mikli.

Got my Japonism Projection frame. Really a very high quality frame. Like it very much :)

Anyone knows what does the 2nd pix lens use for?

Time to visit my friendly optician friend.

After scouting almost every single prominent optical shop in SG and failing to get any good price, i went to JB to make my pair of glasses. Eyes widened when i saw the price 2000rm for a pair of frames, almost the same price here. Thank goodness it seems that the optical shops over there displays the RRP and offers pretty good discounts. Saved about $150 for a tag heuer frames and hoya 1.67 hvll.

Over here the best discounts i got was from Koolook at Suntec. Shops like Kwong Shin has good service, but isn't anywhere cheaper compared to other optical shops. Then again, service doesn't really matter when I did my research on what i am buying. Certainly the optician wouldn't have a clue about the specifics of the frames that i want. Eyechamp at nex is ridiculous, offered NO discounts. There was actually quite a big optical shop at people's park 2F, It actually took me a few shops before i realize there was a catalogue for Tag Heuer's eyewear...i guess the rest didn't bother.

In anycase, it was a good experience. If you're ever buying a branded frames please do your research on the model first and compare the prices between the shops(including the whole package). Saves you so much time and effort. The price stated is usually just a gimmick, some puts it at a higher price but gives you more discount, some puts it at a regular price and gives you no discount. Best to get the price of the whole package and break it down before comparing.

Also, given that you can't bring the catalog home, try to find it online. I found my Tag Heuer's eyewear 2012-2013 catalog after a frenzy search, almost gave up home searching...The measurements are even stated there incase you know what size doesn't fit your face. Price wise, Malaysia definitely offers better price. I bet there are shops offering better price than the one i bought from. Went through 30 over shops here compared to like 10 there.

Oh and i didn't realize there was HVLL until that person showed me...in the hoya catalog here there is only nulux and nulux ep for 1.67.

Sian. I lost my spectacles today. Cost me freaking 800 sgd sans lenses. Left it in the bookshop. I tend to take my spectacles off and leave them on the books whilst browsing through the materials. Must have forgotten them after. I think with all the spectacles I've misplaced, I could have done LASIK.

I'm seriously pissed at myself for being so careless.

Flip side is that the guy who sold me the spectacles is willing to give me a discount for them - he pities me for losing a spectacles that is nearly a thousand dollars. :(

Rant completed.

boysdontcryy, when you left the premise, didn't you notice that your vision is not clear?

No. I don't usually wear spectacles. I only do so when I need to see faraway stuff. Get a headache when I wear 'em for extended periods, so I take them off and leave them around, which explains why I keep losing them.

Pain pain.
Actually I don't know why people want to take the spec as it will not fit them anyway. They sould just pass it to the organisation so that people can recover them.

For all the heartpain wasted $, you should seriously consider getting a neck chain tied to your specs & hang ard your neck so that when you take your specs off it remains on your body. This kind of assessory can be bought at optical shop? And i think it suits forgetful old people. Once you crossed 30s or 40s you will even forget how to get home. So.. pls alos consider putting a namecard in case you got lost outside, people can see your name tag & send you home.

expect 20%++ cheaper than Singapore. But do your own research and know which shops you are going to visit, get a quote from each of them for the model of frames u want + lens package, then make a comparison. a 1.67 hoya nulux + 0822 tag heuer frames costed me $950-$1200 here, while slightly more than $800 with hoya hvll over there. The price tags on the frames there are highly inaccurate, but roughly converts to the same as SG. A 2400RM frame, after discount, costs only like 1700RM. A similar frame at Kwong Shin costed $890, and after discount is about $800(~2000RM).

Only downside being have to go there for warranty.

Hi, may I know:

Qn1: besides Spectacle Culture, which other SG shop carries Dun frames? I dropped by the shop recently, & while the service was good, their DUN frames on display seems quite limited, i.e. around 10+ pairs only & some of them are different colours of the same 'type'? Will like to have a look at more DUN frames in the flesh before deciding.

Qn2: What's the difference between Hoya SFT versus the Hoya HVLL?

Qn3: all else being equal, e.g. price, & assuming the frame allows, is the conventional wisdom always to go for as thin a lens as possible right? Assuming conventional wisdom is that, the more material light as to pass through, the more it alters the image?

Thanks in advance.
