Hi guys. Planning to get new specs. Should I go or Kwong Shin or Queensway (AZ Optics & Seng Li)? Which offers a wider range or better prices?

And for lenses, I've seen a few brands of lenses mentioned. Which is reasonably priced and provides good vision? Normally I just ask for multi-coated lenses from my regular optician but the range they have is too limited.

I believe the lenses most shops has a standard price the supplier(lense company) give to them. The shops I visited all took out a folder with a price list ( look similiar for all shop). Unless the shop give further discount.

Pardon my lack of knowledge in this area, but does it mean factories stock lenses for powers like -1.75, -1.74, -1.76...in all those very minute increments? That sounds like a lot of lenses to keep stock...

Does it matter, when the measurement's taken, that though the tip of the pen is in the centre of my field of vision horizontally, but the tip is slightly high up vertically?

May I know what you are referring to?

What specific coating gives that rich creamy colour?

Btw, progressive lens are for people with lao hua right? Typically, young folks with short-sightedness shouldn't be getting progressive lenses right? Asking cos was reading up & saw a few sites saying free-form = progressive lenses but went to check up the definition of progressive lenses sounds like something those old folks uses, & I thought Nulux EP is a free-form lens, so am quite confused...

In addition, I googled for 'Rx lenses', most search results just defines it as prescription lens...nothing special.

factories do not stock in so minute increments, they go in 50s and 100s. Like 150, 200, 250, 300 onwards.

It doesnt matter, when the measurement's taken, that though the tip of the pen is in the centre of field of vision horizontally, but the tip is slightly high up vertically. The optician look at how your eyeballs roll so you dont worry.

sft coatings will give the rich colour, but not sure on the newer batches nowadays. Been some months i last did a spec. Im waiting for HVLL lenses to stabilise in th emkt before giving it a try. Maybe next year. Or the next.

Progressive only for laohua. Usually when hit 40s lor will get it. Short-sighted will also get laohua depending on you suay or not. Better go for a balanced diet maybe it helps to slow down your ageing process so your eyes can stay younger longer lo!!

Free form is just the design technique which they use. Applies to Nulux EP as well. Hoya's progressive lenses may have free form design, im not sure cos i have no lao hua. Yet.

Hi.

Normally "Rx" lense means non-stock lenses. In the lense company like Essilor or any company you can think of. They have to specially cut and grind for that time of lenses for you. Because the degree or maybe the index you wanted is different from ordinary lenses. "Non-rx" lenses are stock lenses..

So, in general.. Rx lenses are expensive

Btw.. Kids do wear progressive type of lenses.. Cos they also have sort of long sightedness problem.. But hardly these kids nowadays wear due to the learning curve..

To add on further. If yo don't have presbyopia . if the optician measure your eye with a pen. He is measuring your Pupil Distance.

If you make progressive lenses. There would be about 3 measurement level to take.

Sorry if I explained not clear.. :)

If anything not clear. Can PM me. Don't wish to spam this thread. Haha :) cheers!

I got a pair of RB2132 from amazon recently. Noticed that the arms abit uneven when placed on a flat surface. Got a sample picture below from ebay. Problem seems identical. But wear on face looks even.
