Can anyone explain to me why Bottega Veneta's basketweave leather wallets are so popular with men? I see them everywhere, young adults and millenials especially.
Quite a common sight after LV monogram wallets :s22:

Horween Shell Cordovan Wallet

Finally got around to making a fully decked out classic bifold wallet out of Shell Cordovan. This one is Color 8 from Horween. One side of the wallet has card slots, while the other side contains a coin pouch. Hard to get this to stay thin, but tried to do my best to prevent it from becoming too bulky since it's fully-lined and all leather only.

If you are looking for something like this, I don't think it is worth it. The leather they use, if it is what they say it is (Wickett and Craig Veg Tan), is definitely decent. But for US$185, you can get a custom made wallet out of leather that's equally good as what they use, but handsewn (which is stronger), fully lined and with even more card slots. Heck, you can even go for the Ashland Shell Cordovan Massdrop Wallet!

There are many talented leather craftsman in Singapore. A leather supplier recently set up shop too, bringing in a ton of European leather that's top-grade stuff at a very decent price, so I believe the leather scene in SG will get even more crowded in the years to come as more people pick up this hobby.

hi, able to share some of these local craftsmen? interested in getting a customized wallet. Cheers.

@crimsonhides @hide_sg @hei.crafted @hughes_handcrafted @ursa_pelle @74watchstraps @stoneforgold @myura_leather

And of course, yours truly at @nightawl.leather. I'll be glad to help you in your customized wallet order. Feel free to drop me a PM!

Anywhere I can try my hand on leather crafting? I wish to make a small pouch. I don't wish to buy the gear, just need the facilities and borrow the gear.

If you Google something like "leathercraft lesson singapore", I'm sure you will be able to find someone offering classes. There are quite a few being held on weekends. Unfortunately I can't speak to the quality since I haven't attended any; the best proxy is probably the quality of the goods that the teacher makes. All the best!

So I finally had access to a splitter locally, and decided to make a shell cordovan exterior wallet with removable ID slot, just to see how thin I can make it. Here's the result. This one was made from Navy Shell Cordovan from Italy for the exterior, and Buttero leather for the interior. A similar bifold made of Color 8 Shell Cordovan from Horween will be coming up next!
