Patina develops when the tritium starts decaying thru out its half life of 12.3 years
(googled). it develops into this decaying mass of yellow look dust or whatever which makes it looks

with that vintage-y effect.
if the tritium disintegrates from the dial and hands, i think the value is gonna go up (might be wrong) because that is gonna take decades for that to happen (assuming no mishandling).
However the tritium plots are gonna remain with what is left which collectors are gonna be crazy about because for the last 5 decades, the watches was left untouched (except for servicing).
it's all about keep it true to itself since the day it was produced.

and patina forms in the dark, not under the light haha very interesting when i found out this piece of info, i always thought it was the UV rays that causes that effect.
but UV does affect the fading of bezels inserts.

honestly, i am pretty new in this hobby (last 7 years and i never had to service any watch). Except for my aquaracer before the warranty ends.
Not exactly a time nazi but as long it works, it works because i rotate my watches
example of my 1680 from late 70s, no service documentation but its running within COSC specs.
i think the last time i adjusted the time was approx 6 weeks back and its fast by only 1 min as of now which is pretty amazing given its age. Rolex movements are very robust.
so no answer to that. but there are places where people trust their vintage with, for eg, png watches.
JW servicing takes too damn long. vintage piece servicing lead time could be 9-12 months.
