Words of wisdom indeed. I totally agree with you. Although i also uncle but i just started on this hobby late last year and went through several rash purchases to scratch the itch because I thought those watches can tide me over. But i soon realise that was a mistake because i keep thinking about the watches that i really want. And in the end, its a costly lesson for me because i sold off those watches at a loss to get the ones i really want.

So now i am very careful with my purchases and i rather save longer to get the watch that i really want than substitute for something which i think i am ok with.

A 36 year-old uncle? You are still young!!!

Yup I learnt the hard way also. Bought many less expensive Swiss watches like Hamilton (4x), tissot (3x), glycine, steinhart (3x), Mont Blanc etc etc and sold them eventually. Lucky some of them I bought preowned so didn't lose or maybe earned some cash but those new ones I got... Lost quite a fair bit.
That's why now I'm more selective with the watches I purchase, especially new ones.

thats why i tell mine friends and watch lovers.. dun waste time on those... straight get a beginner rolex and slowly upgrade... rolex is super value for money.;)

Sorry I'm quite bad at mandarin so I translated. And yes I know to he prudent with my watch purchases! And haha I feel like I'm the only one among my friends to like brands like GO and Zenith.. Most of them are just into ap, hublot, panerai and Rolex

The beginner rolexes are quite nice! Was considering the 214270 and 114300 before I purchased my iwc 377704

I've been thinking of whether to put this on a strap and try! But the case shape would look a little weird right?

Yeap. The bezel design doesn't make it suitable for leather strap. I guess that was the reason why Tudor immediately changed to the Fluted bezel and smooth bezel for their Classic line
