With a budget of 2k to 2.5k, what is a gd diver watch that i can keep for many many yrs n past down to my son? My wife wants to buy me a watch for our 10th yr ann that i can keep as heirloom. But i don want her to spend ao much.

a pre-owned, out-of-production, near-mint quality omega seamaster professional chronometer 2254.50 with box and papers.

before its price start edging up even more.

i'm a happy & fortunate owner. read why it's such a winner here in my review.

i can't recommend it highly enough, if it's to your taste.

cheers and good luck on your choice!

Waiting for that to happen Haha
Lucky short production time

scarcity will always drive demand. it's the fundamental law of economics.

oddly enough, it's selective unpopular ugly ducklings when they were initially released like the paul newmen daytonas and ref 1655 "steve mcqueen" rolex explorer II that have seen tremendous rise in value due to herd mentality. go figure.

I have to disagree... Experience is something that you cannot get from travel channels and books. You also get to enjoy the company of your travel partners. ie. Why have a meetup with friends when you can whatsapp each other in a chat group?

Experience is what is lacking in the current virtual reality world! Nothing like wearing the watch on your wrist than collecting photos of it!

i completely agree! :D

just letting that old contrarian curmudgeon in me out to gai gai once in a while. ;)

anyway, virtual reality IS the real reality now. what with forums like how we're interacting, 24/7 internet connection, etc.

i still stand by the benefits of vicarious experience via the travel channel/travel programmes. cheers. :)

I don't want to be a flower!!

bro slow_mo, you know what i mean lah.

a man at 40 is actually/supposed to be at his peak/flower of life with his (supposed) accumulated skills, life experience, maturity and resources (money!). :D

even women choose a man (maybe slightly) older than her for the above! ;)

to all bros in their 40s: congratulations! you're at your peak! :s13:

They came out a white version???

Still remember the first time I tried on your RM... it was really so light that it was literally weightless on my wrist but yet the build was extremely solid

No problem bro......

Today Doctor/ Pilot no way ...... do not make enough to get there...

Watches do not show that you are rich when you are in the high circle, everyone can afford it and it's whether they'll buy or not, most will have.. going further, a Bungalow may be $20m today and if you can buy that, whats a few millions in watches or cars, and it never ends, the higher you go, the more humble you will be, because to the next guy the same $20m could just be a leisure yacht. Buy at your level, because you buy to enjoy, of course to many to show off as well. And the most stupid one, to show off to those less than you? to boost own ego? When you meet a guy that's up there already, it just takes a few minutes and he knows what status you probably are .
I'm probably the oldest guy here, but I started from zero and not from rich family, reach out and grab your dreams young people!

Thanks iceflight dai dai kor!

your urwerk ur-210's winding efficiency selector can be set to "STOP" to protect the automatic winding system when doing activities like golfing. :s12:

I didn't get a 210. Got a 105m. Thought 210 is over priced. Urwerk is a watch that you got 1. It's enough..all same.

there's early 40s, middle 40s and late 40s.

anyway, chinese got a saying: 男人四十一枝花。:D

I thought 男人四十一条龙。。the花is for ladies?

Cheers little bro..

To the issues buying watches/ houses

When most people buys these they most likely will take a loan for x number of years ( houses / cars mainly). Yes pays so much to the bank as well. Take in account of inflation rate yearly. It's good to buy now if price is right. But remember effective interest rate is double.
Private banks open up a whole new structure to the high net worth. Cars are bought cash . Eg...OD line based off your investment/asset are given at about 1% with only repayment of interest and no penalties upon settlement. Means that the money still sitting in the bank getting invested and growing. They give you money to buy houses/car/watches and you pay only the interest at like 1% - no instalments... Add that you then Use a credit card to sign for it. Give you many many miles. that's why buy watches or car must sign credit card.. travel? First class tickets redeemed ... free.
See the difference?
