以今天的汇率计算,少过500。

Thanks again for the great advice. Just to check 114060 retail is at 10300? Will AD like hourglass give any discount on rolex sport watch? Chuanwatch selling at $9k for a new pc...just wanna understand more on the AD before i visit them

Sent from Samsung SM-G935F using GAGT

Well... Rolex is like LV... they don't encourage their AD to give discounts, even if give discounts, it's controlled at around 5%.
Any higher, the AD is at risk of losing the Rolex Dealership if found out.
That's why we always encourage people who wanna visit AD to go there with the right mentality:
"Discount is not automatic. It is a privilege."
We also don't really openly discuss discounts for Rolex watches at any particular AD.

Also, it's important to understand that rolex watches offered at established pre own watch shops like Chuan, do not come from ROLEX as they are not AD. They come from various alternative sources and countries.
The sources can be overseas preowned watch dealers, overseas pawnshops, auction sites etc

ADs like the hour glass charges the most. popular sports model like the rolex sub have little to no discount (0-3%, maybe?).

places like chuanwatches for eg are grey dealers. they have kangtao from overseas ADs (say in europe) who offload some of their stock at wholesale prices. so technically, these watches are already 2nd hand as their warranty cards are already dated.

the advantage of buying pre-owned (especially private sale) is:

1. you save on the 7% gst.
2. the first owner takes the hit on depreciation.

the disadvantage of buying pre-owned is:

1. you've to cough up a fee (used to be $107 - now maybe increased?? experienced bros please confirm, thanks!) to verify the authenticity of the watch at rolex service center.

the advantage of buying from an AD:

1. you definitely sure it's genuine.
2. you enjoy the full experience of buying a luxury watch from a jeweller.
3. if you're loaded and a watch enthusiast, you can develop a relationship which can lead to better discounts, private invitations, even gifts from your preferred sales person.

You guys make me curious and think of getting one.
Automatic with 300m. I would like a date window though.

brexit. Super busy past few days. Hardly spent any time at home. Need a good break.

bro yattokame, please elaborate as the omega 2254.50 already has a white-on-black date window that blends with the dial colour.

it just doesn't have the cyclops like the sub. instead, it's more like the sea dweller 4000 or dssd that have date windows without the cyclops.

get one if you love it's lovely classic design. even if you flip if, you'll get your money back - no problem!

satisfied owners like bro pwillie, gaoxing84, Nakedtoes & myself will not part with ours cos it has charisma, presence, style & an evergreen design that will not look dated. it's already out-of-production, but still affordable, though it's resale prices are holding very steady and creeping up.

let me put it in context: it's equipped with a chronometer grade ETA 2892-A2 movement and can still be had for around $2.5k locally. online prices overseas are in excess of $3k.

now compare that with a tudor black bay (though newer) but equipped with a non-COSC ETA 2824-2 which costs above $3.2k pre-owned on bracelet.

Ouch! Issit due to battery leak? Anyway it's a lovely watch once endorsed by Cindy Crawford. got it for my wife and want to ensure she can enjoy it for many years. Will go ask omega. Thanks

i'm not sure though.
I brought two watches for battery change at a 3rd party shop. told me both watches spoil. One was the omega.

okay, so I send it in to omega, and the confirmed something wrong w the movement. a few mths wait and a huge repair bill. about 1/4 of what I paid 13 yrs ago.

the other watch I send back to agent. put in battery and it was running perfectly.

Now I'm not sure if the outside shop's skill is up to standard. Just go back to agent for peace of mind.

http://www.businessinsider.sg/wall-street-ceo-watches-2014-8/#.V3R-o_l9600

not surprising actually...

Former President Bill Clinton & G. Bush used to wear a Timex.
President Obama wears a Jorg Gray (An American watch company)
Lloyd Blankfein, Goldman Sachs CEO wears a Swatch
Jack Bogle, Founder of the Vanguard Group, wears a $14 wristwatch he received from a shareholder.
