Not really into birthday year watches yet haha. Budgeted for the SubC after I tried it many many times in the shop :s13:
very true... not everyone is into birth year watches.

Lange 1 is really a special watch. Almost want to replace my end game watch PP Annual Calendar with Breguet Numerals with it. Great choice for your ultimate aim. :D

woooOOOOO... That is one REALLY fine "End Game" watch piece.

you mean the PP 5396?

Actually it is this one.

To mark the 20th anniversary of bestselling complication, Patek Philippe launched a face-lifted ref. 5396, featuring Breguet hour numbers and dauphine hands.

Will take me at least 15 year I think.....Don't want to think about it haha

Yes, everything moving very fast in the last few years. Getting married, buying house, renovation and now planning to have a kid. I think it is the perfect time to get my first Rolex. It is a great mile stone watch. :)

for me, things moved EXTREMELY fast in the last 3 months :s13:
new home, furniture, bed, appliances, renovation, and all the little whats not. all came fast and furious, one after another.
blew a big hole in my wife and my pockets...:o

I actually decided to use up my "ALS watch" fund, which i began saving up right after I got my tudor watch two yrs ago, as getting my home done was far more important.

in fact, the last two years was a good saving experience for me. after cutting back on unnecessary spending, entertainment, dining etc, I managed to save close to 30K.

so now, for my ALS watch fund, i can slowly pace myself aand set aside about 4K saving a year

I strongly encourage you to think and make it your target... I actually brought my wife along to HJ watch shop and tried on the ALS lange 1 in front of her...
she replied "Nice... how much?"
I told her "26k"
to my surprise, she replied that I can put it back and get this watch 10 years later as my "40th birthday watch" :s13:

You are a good family man :). Family first. Always.

When I started getting into watches, my wife also cannot comprehend why they are so expensive. After brain washing :s13: and educating her for a few months, she now knows why I love watches so much. She told me if I can save up that amount of money without affecting family expenses, family holidays and gifts for her, she is fine with it.:s22: So, I am doing some serious financial planning now.

What I mean by not think about it is not that I am not aiming to get it. Rather I m not trying to think about how long it will take to get there. I am thinking in the long term and taking it step by step. 10, 15 years?

Here is hopping everyone will get to own their end game watch one day! Don't stop dreaming! :D

All the end game watches talk is BS :s13:

All addicts like us know that it's impossible for a "last watch that I'm going to buy" scenario. When you buy your 30 yo watch, there is still a 40 yo, 50 yo, 60 yo... Next, will be a watch for your children and thereafter your grandchildren.

Cheers... Buying watches is forever!!!

As long as it does not affect the family and it is within our means, buy now and enjoy the watch for a longer period of time. Anyway the prices will only go up!!!

I think quite a few of us in the same boat or had been in the same boat. Collected the keys to my new home late last year but put on hold renov and moving in because want to focus on my newborn and staying w my parents is especially helpful with a newborn around.

My renov is actually going to start next week and the current renov costs stands at 30k, actually i know at this crucial period, i shouldn't be thinking of an ALS as the amount is substantial enough to pay for renov of my entire flat. But then sometimes the poison is really deep, the more i read forums about the watch the more I feel tempted to just plunge in. Therefore it is very enlightening to read your post about you using up your ALS fund for your home because frankly that should be the priority. I should be focusing on my home rather than thinking of getting even more expensive watches when I have two fine watches already.

On a side note, where or what is HJ Watch? Can get a brand new Lange 1 at just $26k?

This is exactly what my wife thought when I first got into watches late last year. I always bring her to boutiques to try watches and now she understands why I love watches so much and why during my free time, I will troll the forums for watches news and discussions daily. She is now ok with me spending on watches as long as it doesn't affect our family finances and can still buy the occasional gifts for her. I bought her four watches just this year alone to try to get her to appreciate watches more and promise her a Cartier next year.

Sounds like you have enough for more than a couple of ALS... If it does't hurt your wallet too much, why not?

But do keep some spare for infant/child care services... mine is like > 1 Rolex Sub per year...

Google HJ Watch, they are at Far East Plaza.

Here's my only watch close to 5 digit... taking public transport and on my way home!!!

My wife is a one watch for life kind. She wants a Rolex DJ on jubilee bracelet. Maybe buy her that when she become a mum. :)

My wife was interested in a DJ too when I brought her to THG but heng she doesn't like automatic because she rotates her watches very frequently so she finds very mafan to have to set the time and date again. Ended up I bought her a Tag Heuer Ceramic F1 Quartz which is very popular among the ladies. Save me quite a tidy sum.:s13:

Her watch box is 10 slots one whereas mine is 6 slots only.
