Hi guys quick question: the orient flight watch I purchased claims to have about 40 hours of reserve yet I've experienced it stopping overnight!
Yesterday I restarted it at round 10am and wore it until about 2pm and took it off. This morning I saw it stopped at 7.45 and the date did not change at all too.
Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance!
Orient flight uses an automatic in-house MIJ caliber 48743 movt. This movt is non-hack and non hand-winding. Therefore, it relies entirely on your wrist movements to wind up the spring coil
from 2pm to next morning 7:45pm, that is a good 16-17 hrs of idle. The amount of stored energy in the spring coil generated from you wearing it between 10am to 2pm might not be enough to see it through 16 hrs of idling.
Reason being that during that 4 hours of wearing the watch, your wrist might not be moving all the time, unless you were doing some physical activities or sports, then it might generate enough wrist movement to fully wind up the spring coil.
Take for example my Orient Mako, I will usually wear it to work from Mons to Fri... 8am to 8/9pm everyday. from 10pm to 8am (Next morning), it will be idling on my desk.
over the weekends, I will change to my g shock or other watches, and sometimes surprisingly, my orient mako will still be running on Monday morning. But most of the time, the watch would have wind down completely.
