hi guys, looking at some vintage watches. never owned a really expensive watch, only cheap watches for everyday use like the odd casio. saw some vintage iwc going for <2k. are these legit? growing up always thought iwc wouldn't go for this kind of price.

any pros and cons? anything i should look out for?

for a person not well acquainted with watches in general, i humbly suggest you buy brand new to save you the aggro of being cheated, chopped and costly repairs to an aging watch that has not been well-maintained.

a new watch has warranty and has not been worn down/worn out. vintage watches by definition no warranty anymore and high likelihood of closer interval maintenance.

cost is one thing. getting a good, reliable watchmaker who won't butcher your watch further is another.

Nice watch, where u bought it?

I got it after my 2nd trip to the Seiko boutique at JEM (within the span of 30mins). I did try to exercise some self-restraint when I first saw that mesmerising blue dial, and walked out successfully. After jalan'ing for about 30mins, kept thinking about it and went back in. To my dismay, it was gone  The salesperson told me the last piece in the shop was snapped up. However, he can try and get another piece from another outlet.

Long story short, I went home with 1 and I like to think that I was fated to get this watch. :o

Oic. I like the indicator on top, looks like the petrol meter :D

I like the power reserve indicator too. :) In future, perhaps watches will have a f**ks-O-Meter that detects how many f**ks you give to a current situation. It'll be classic if the meter was 0 and you can proudly show your watch to an asshat before you and say, "Look, this is how many f**ks I give." :D

Show your hoot!!
Wah sian I arrive at 756 pm they don't let me in Zz. Miss out man. What deals are there ?
Wow.the queue is so long..
The iwc watch there so few models. Not worth the time.

Sorry to disappoint but did not buy anything coz the variant of the Zenith Synopsis i was looking for was already "sold" per the SA...should have gone earlier! But wonder if they replenish their stocks....was so hopeful that I'd see what I was looking for!

But true, most of the pieces on sale are the slow moving ones...more popular models would probably not make an appearance at this "pasar malam"...

But I was surprised to see Dr Strange's JLC on sale there...unless itz a different variant...! :s13:

vintage is not easy but hope you can find what you like. Authentication and servicing would be main issues

I would buy a watch now and pass down to my children (create your own vintage) :o

Put it on a NATO today. A real value proposition, especially at the price I got it for. Happy Friday everyone, long weekend is coming. :)
