Chronographs have seconds hand (usually on a smaller sub dial) and a chronograph hand (big "seconds" hand).

Oh.. now that u mention it, I saw it extremely tiny for my el primero.

also discovered another issue, the watch is unable to set the date...
instruction manual states that to change the date, pull out the crown till the 1st click and then turn it clockwise to change the date. have followed the instructions, but the date wheel isnt moving.

not sure what happened internally...

any idea how much would it cost to fix the date issue...?

Chronographs do not have second hands. That hand is for stop watch. So far that's what I know of chronographs.

hello all, i just bought a second-hand automatic chronograph from overseas. the watch seems to be not working. when i give the watch a few gentle shakes to kick start the time, the seconds hand does not move at all. yet if i pushed on the start button of the chronograph, the seconds hand moved as well as the chronograph hand.

any idea what is wrong?

看來是機械計時錶的菜鳥囉。。。哈，不要緊張，沒事的。
不如大多數的電子石英計時錶，無論是自動上鍊，還是手動上鍊，一般多數的機械計時錶的＂大秒針＂是計時秒針，真正的非計時秒針依機芯款式而定，一體機芯多數的秒針都處在九點眼，合體機芯則是在三點眼。

看來似乎是調日機件部分已經損壞。。。這方面經常容易出現買賣雙方的爭議。買方比較容易中槍，因為賣方會指責買方不遵循使用指南上的指示，避免在夜晚九點至清晨五點之間調日子。。。
