thanks for the assurance, bro gaoxing84! all pre-owned watches sold by shops sure have polishing. 2nd hand shop sure need to make their watches as presentable and as LNIB as possible mah. just avoid any overpolished piece lor (i've seen pics of seamaster's brushed clasp shined until like... argghh... shudder!).

i'm not a good bargain hunter like you. also, that's the fair market price for the full set (which i insist). no regrets at all. willing buyer, willing seller. wait some more, price will shoot up higher. i don't want to miss the wave like the aluminum bezel GMT master II. paying a premium for a full set b+p/c+m secures higher re-sale value in the future. my philosophy is that my watch hobby ought to have a reasonable chance of a decent return (or at least not loose money on it).

to add, "uncle rolex" wearing uncle must wear short sleeve collar shirts with shirt tail left untucked, paired with dark coloured trousers. fav footwear? sandals. probably wears a yellow gold ring set with jade gem stone worn on same long-fingernail pinky finger, with religious amulets worn round the neck. regularly found in kopi-tiam, ktv lounge, bars quaffing beer, massage parlours, etc.
