my replies in blue.

Thanks bro in taking time on your response. Sorry noob in using forum hence going to copy and paste your response with my replies as well

you're welcome. :)

You're spot-on bro, this is going to mark the milestone of my life. Been wanting to purchase the Rolex ever since I started working :s13: Currently, I have Omega Seamaster (Quartz), Seiko Presage SARW019, Steinhart Nav B Chrono, Fitbit Blaze and Casio G-Shock (GST-210B-4A). I have posted before in this thread along the way, not really active in posting but active in lurking and enjoying all the beautiful watches & hotdogs posted by everyone here.

if it's a significant watch to mark a milestone in your life, you may wish to consider the AD experience, if only for the memories. some are more "chin chai" and would rather buy grey sets from grey importers to save some cash. it really depends on your thinking.

if your other watches get little wrist time, you may wish to consider selling them to recoup some money. however, if you continue to enjoy them, keep them.

Oh, never know this about "grey set" and definitely my wife is against pre-owned as well. Any AD to recommend where they don't look down on noobs? :s22: We do not need to be treated like a king/queen as everyone is just earning a living. Hence, just want to be happy on the experience for this

when i said "technically 2nd hand/pre-owned" means you're not the registered first owner. the watch could well have been unworn. BUT the warranty period has already started when it was first purchased, meaning you won't get the full 5 year rolex warranty. this is just a small detail that some may not be aware of.

also if you intend to buy another rolex for your wife (and knowing most women, they'll want everything new esp if it's a present - except when they forking out their own cash for their hermes/gucci/dior/LV/prada/etc), buying yours first from an AD may set you up for a better discount on your next purchase. BUT fact is, grey sets from grey importers may still be cheaper.

recession raging right now. luxury sector in a slump. you say leh?

noob or not, you're paying top dollar. and every SA worth his/her salt should be professional enough to render a top notch client experience. diff customers look for diff things. some look for product knowledge (fat hope: watch lovers know far more than the average SA), some look for flattery/suck up (well, if you've the loaded/big spender aura, maybe), some look for other things...

no need kan chiong. do your online research to know as much as you can on the watches you're interested in, including specs, reviews, etc. walk in several ADs armed with this knowledge and test their engagement level. if they bo chup, especially when they're not busy, go to the next AD. before sales already bo chup, what makes you think they'll bother with you once they take your money?

if you know of reliable friends who're rolex owners, sound them out. maybe some may be willing to intro you to their SAs and perhaps you can get a better discount/experience out of it.

being noob also good what. if the SA can demo product knowlege to your satisfaction, that's part of your buying experience also right?

Noted on this and will check it out as well as await for any other bros response.

Oh ok noted on both the credit cards usage and serial numbers. Shall consider the usage of different credit cards although the cards which I'm usually using are on miles redemption. Perhaps I can consider applying for cards which offers cash rebates!

wait for more input from the rest here. i'm sure they've good advice for you! :)

Ok la, I did say before which PP I wanted the most so this may not be that surprisingly for some.

Bro Thai_rak_Thai, imitation is the highest form of flattery...and with that, I present:
